I hope this isn't gonna be rated R just for the sake of it, simply just to capitalize on Deadpool's success

Actually, the film finished shooting last September, so they probably already had plans for this. Although, the fact that they made this announcement after Deadpool's success is odd.

I think it's almost exactly that. It's basically "crap Deadpool was successful... Uh... Use the footage we decided against to keep the PG-13 rating so we can capitalize on edgy!" Considering how Man of Steel was basically them trying to make Superman "edgy" this move basically feels more of the same in that regard. WB basically is obsessed with Batman and wants to make everything more like Batman.

The very idea of a Superman movie being rated R just sounds off. What, are they going to add in a couple of F-Bombs and racial slurs? Are we going to add in pointless nudity or sex scenes? I just don't know what to  make of this.

Throw in a few F words and gore shots, BOOM, that's the movie. WB is so predictable it's sad.

Who is this even for? A few days ago, there was a video where Henry Cavill sponsored the movie to a couple of kids and a tie in to a zoo. Now, WB is advertising this as a dark movie for adults?

I don't try to understand WB beyond knowing they are obsessed with Batman and the edginess that is Batman. Beyond that, I don't even try to understand their logic with anything else.

I think Guardians Of The Galaxy director, James Gunn put it best when he said that studios would misinterpret Deadpool's success:

What's next, is Fox going to release a PG-13 rated cut of Deadpool?

What exactly would an R-rated version even change? What's the point of this announcement by them? I mean, it being R-rated in the director's cut won't affect if the movie is good or not, unless, for some reason, key scenes were left out to keep it PG-13. I highly doubt that though.

Be prepared for Batman to say "That motherf***er brought the war to us!" Instead of "son of a b*tch" in that version. Woooooooooooo.

I don't care what the movie is called. To me it's called "Man of Steel 2... Starring Batman". Hey guys. Why does Batman have to fight Superman. Batman is an intelligent man heck he's the world greatest detective. How could he let himself be swayed into even going up against a man who's more god than man? Do you know how Justice League started?   The pilot showed an instance where Superman admits he can take on whole armies by himself but he doesn't have to when situations like this come up." Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern and Hawkgirl head the group as they take on threats to Earth together... Just not Doomsday it was Darkseid who was a constant threat for the show. Which is why this whole BvS thing is silly. I wager that it probably doesn't matter who wins. I've seen films with Vs in them yet rarely are about the VS. But every so often you have to side with the Predator to kill the Alien. It's probably kinda like that for Man of Steel 2... Starring Batman.
