Rhetoric got as close as he could to Edge without being to cumbersome and tried to get to sleep, which was a struggle 

 

He couldn't stop thinking about various things, and when he finally managed to get to sleep it was fitful and shallow as any grave would be in the frozen waste land

It was a dreamless sleep, fitful yet uninterrupted by any dreams or nightmares. Moonlight was curled up by the time Rhetoric awoke, and edge was still lazily sleeping, her hoof draped on his face. Turned out she was a pony whom took up a lot of bedspace.

Rhetoric had no desire to get right out of bed and Edge still seemed to be sleeping well for once. So he stayed put, just sort of sitting and thinking. Seeing that Edge had sprawled herself out, he selfishly draped her hoof around his back and snuggled closer next to her.

He had to be close to someone if he could, and he had gotten a tad could throughout the night, the brittle wind blowing just outside their frail tarp. 

 

I hope she doesn't mind... she seems rather hesitant to get close, can;t say I blame her. She's been through a hell like life
