movies/tv Are TV Shows(Modern era) better than current movies?

Might be my incredible cynicism and bitterness, but I think I have had more fun with recent tv shows, than movies in the past years. I am going further back too, I really think when 2008 started, when Disney began to consume more assets such as Marvel, things became worse. I understand people love the cinematic universe and tie-ins. I actually was sort of into them too. But I find the issue with movies in the past 10 years are all about gimmicks.. 3D died? Ok well we can just do more super hero movies to bring the billions in, doesn't matter if they're mediocre or bad. Or we can play on peoples's nostalgia and remake movies.(ie The Force Awakens and others)

I liked the first Iron Man and the first Captain America. The Avengers is really boring to me now, it is just lightning at the moment and Disney won't get that back again. I just can't get hyped for the big big movies. My most anticipated movie, is the Ratchet and Clank movie, that shows you that I don't take blockbusters seriously.

Breaking Bad was the first tv show I was on the edge of my seat for. Seasons 1-2 of The Walking Dead are blood pumping. I couldn't get into older tv series from like the late 90s and early 00s, I can't explain why. But the newer line of tv shows explore long term character development in unique ways. I am saying that tv shows take risk, whereas movies rarely do, and when movies take risk, people complain.. But people complain about hollywood giving them the same stuff over and over again. So I don't know what people want.

I want to watch Boardwalk Empire and maybe even give the Wire a try. There's plenty of shows to keep my interest for now. Movies just don't do it anymore.

I think you make a big mistake and just look at the mainstream stuff that is promoted the most, because there are alot of hidden gems in the movie world.

Besides, it's a bit unfair to compare a movie to a TV Show. A Movie has mostly 2 hours to wrap itself up, while a TV Show has an episode every week for an hour and then just continues where it left off.
