Subscriber Denim&Venöm 20,424 March 19, 2016 Subscriber Share March 19, 2016 Eh, not really, as one of the main focuses for Twi in EQG was the fish out of water aspect. Put her in a magic school and what challenges does she face really? And having magic be an everyday thing in the human world too would take away the distinctness. If anything, the mane 6 would be even more OP if they all knew magic and how to take on threats from Equestria. Demon Shimmer, the Sirens, Midnight Sparkle? Textbook defense against the dark arts cases.
Unlikeable Pony 2,700 March 19, 2016 Share March 19, 2016 So instead of being the typical high school drama would it been more interesting as a magic academy high school drama? I would have liked it so. That being said, Equestria girls would be a 100% functionally different beast if it were about the mane six attending a magic school. If it were about them attending a mage school, it would focus on them gradually growing as individuals and their abilities wouldn't be so out of the ordinary, and their dreams would be able to mesh up more with their Pony selves: Dash could still have a Pegasi magic themed goal in life for example compared to how "become the world's best flyer" isn't really a viable job option here in the human world. Contrast how the current Universe is more "The mane six are super powered Superheroes of some sort who's abilities are huge outliers". See, while I'd prefer the former idea (Magical school), it would essentially be erasing what the equestria girls universe's point is..
Roughshod 721 March 19, 2016 Share March 19, 2016 (edited) So instead of being the typical high school drama would it been more interesting as a magic academy high school drama?Since most characters in Equestria aren't specialists in magic to begin with, even among unicorns, I don't see that being very believable or consistent with the show's canon. Plus as the title of this topic says it wouldn't be all that orginal either and would be compared to a more established and successful franchise. I honestly don't even see the need for a strictly school setting anyway. I would have liked to have seen a human version of Equestria that was more faithful to the original series. One where Celestia and the other princesses were still actual princesses (NOT SCHOOL FACULTY!) and Equestrian society was still existing in the same relative paradigm with all its magical wonder(though still alien to Twilight) rather than the trite high school setting we've all seen a million times. Edit: I'm envisioning something like this, albeit probably not as intense with all the war and stuff. Source: https://derpiboo.ru/193755 Edited March 19, 2016 by Roughshod The truth is always rough. cmarston1 5,964 March 19, 2016 Share March 19, 2016 (edited) Not really. I actually really like the adding of magical elements to the typical high school setting. Particularly when it came to Rainbow Rocks and Friendship Games. Seeing how characters like SciTwi didn't know anything about magic and still went on a quest in order to understand the strange phenomenons going on was really fascinating. Especially seeing how the magic of Equestria has different properties when added to a world that was originally devoid of it, only to see more and more magical elements added to the world as the films continue. cider float 2,539 March 23, 2016 Author Share March 23, 2016 I was thinking of a magic school but also have non-magic users be like the jocks of the school maybe a bit like the Fairy Tale Guild or whatever anime there is.
