gaming I am Setsuna

Introduced at E3 last year (2015) it was originally just called Project Setsuna and little detail was given except that it was a new IP being developed by a newly formed team under Square Enix. A lot of people know I have a love hate relationship with Square Enix (mostly hate) and I am currently grinding an ax with them over starting so many games that they have no idea when any of them will come out. Project Setsuna looked like just another game to throw out there as a "maybe", however the game was actually released in Japan in February on the Ps4, Vita and PC. And the big shocker: the game is actually a throwback to the golden age of RPGs inspired heavily by Chrono Trigger and even using its battle system.

Chrono Trigger being my favorite game of all time, this naturally is amazing news for me. The game is slated for Western release on PS4 and PC (no Vita) later this summer. I am super excited for a Square Enix game, this has not happened for a loooooooong time. What about you guys?

I'm beyond pissed they aren't localizing the Vita version, especially considering it's the only available platform I have for it.

The Vita isn't popular here. Also you don't have a PC? It doesn't look that graphically intensive.

I really value portability+My computer isn't that strong. Besides, why not just make it download only? I know it's a minority, but it just screws over those who only have the Vita

Mostly because it's not as simple as just translating it, they also need to reformat the game for NTSC and a bunch of other tweeks for the American market and when less than 3 million PSVitas exist in the US, it becomes a matter of "why bother?" I'm not a huge fan of the practice either, mostly because I understand the catch 22 of the PSVita: Too risky to make games for it, but the less games that are made the less systems that sell, thus becoming more risky to make games for it.

Sony had a good idea with the Vita, but they didn't think too far ahead. The system is too expensive to develop for because titles have to be close to AAA console game level of quality on a handheld and that turns a lot of devs off, then the price of those games along with the lack of games turns fans off. The Vita was a better idea on paper, but if they had found a way to make it happen with the ease of development and affordability of the 3DS they would have had a winner.

The PC version just makes so much more sense here in America because it's a growing platform. That being said though, from what I can see of the game, the game might run on lower end PCs, it doesn't look like it will require very powerful specs.

There is another nugget of good news: Square said they would bring the PSVita version here if the demand was there. So basically if PSVita owners inform Square that they will buy the game, they will port it. So they are not closed to the idea.

Also a trailer:
