ManaMinori 4,145 March 28, 2016 Share March 28, 2016 I can't understand how anyone would like then, even wanting them to be in gen4. I mean, in "Sweet Stuff snd the treasure hunt", the baby seaponies invite Sweet Stuff to play, but have her stand on land, while they play water croquet, and use her face as a goal post. Twice! (I dare anyone to take a croquet ball to the face and be ok with it) And in "Midnight Castle", the seaponies- instead of immediately bringing the drowning pony and Megan to the surface, trap them in bubbles underwater, and toss them around like volleyballs, while they sing, and insist that they can be trustworthy. Yeah, sure. Under the Jellicle Moon- a site with cuteness, cat boys, and comic strips / Star Dreams Fanclub
Mesme Rize 15,685 March 28, 2016 Share March 28, 2016 That's like saying Lamiaponies shouldn't be in this series, because greek mythology depicts Lamias as creatures, who seduce humans and then eats them. Just because you might not like them then, dosen't mean they act the same in this series. 4 My OC Mesme Rize: >https://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/mesme-rize-r8777 Thank you Randimaxis for this Wonderful Avatar. Gestum 2,493 March 28, 2016 Share March 28, 2016 Well, luckily for you the past generations isn't cannon in the fim universe. So they could act completely different.
Kyoshi Frost Wolf 41,651 March 28, 2016 Share March 28, 2016 this actually makes me want to see them in FiM just to see how they are interpreted. I am certain DHX would handle them far better.

They're not the same characters as they where in the past generations.
AlbaTross 1,586 March 29, 2016 Share March 29, 2016 I can't understand how anyone would like then, even wanting them to be in gen4. Yeah, sure. Yeah, I prefer to think of that as an indication of how far MLP has come in making Earth Ponies not lame. Super strength, tactile tails and some of the crazy stuff Pinkie does are not staples of other pony races. In G1 though, Earth Ponies really do suck. You know you suck when Sea Ponies use you as a goal post. Sea Ponies! But it's cool as the lesson of the episode was "it's ok if you suck as long as you're ok with being you", I think. Wait, what? Yeah, stuff like that just makes me appreciate FiM that much more, though my entire journey through past MLP shows had that effect on me. By the way, Megan was a little rude to the Sea Ponies as she never did thank them for helping her cross over to the castle. I highly doubt Sea Ponies will ever be seen in the show, but there's always Under the Sparkling Sea...I suppose. I'm just not sure where they would fit into the show as Ponyville is no where near a major body of water, and having characters who are limited to living in water would just tie the rest of the cast down if they were major characters. But hey, there's stuff from G1 I wish to see in FiM that will probably never happen. I'm super stoked Somnambula was referenced in the latest season premiere as she's easily my favourite villain from G1, but that also likely means she will never actually appear in the series since she's probably a figure from the past in Equestria. Oh well, I suppose I do think it's better if FiM focuses more on telling its own story than relying on past series and I should just appreciate the reference for what it's worth.
