Copper grunted as he saw Redwood dodge the attacks.  Then when he saw the bullets flying after him, he quickly spun his trident at an extremely rapid pace, deflecting the fire away from both of them.  He knew as soon as the firing stopped was his chance to strike, and he managed to take it when it happened, unleashing a flurry of fast attacks at Redwood.

Redwood was able to put her shield barely in time to block the attack. It promptly fizzled out, leaving her with only a few seconds, if any, to act. Redwood countered with a strong head butt aimed squarely at Copper's nose. It was a crude attack, but it still seemed like the best course of action.

The headbutt connected, sending Copper reeling for a few hooves before he recovered.  He shook his head, dismissing the damage, and took off again after Redwood, this time planting his trident and preforming an arcing kick, holding the trident as best as he could.

Redwood wasn't quite able to avoid the kick in time, and it caught her across the face. She recovered and spat out blood. Redwood was mad now. Forgoing her weapons, Reducing went straight for a tackle, putting all her considerable weight and strength into it.

Copper had to let go of the trident as he was tackled by Redwood, seeing how the mare got angry.  However, once he landed on his back, he was able to push off of her with all his might to above his head.  He got back up and quickly ran as fast as he could and picked up his trident, getting a little angry himself.

Redwood made a sloppy attempt at shooting Copper in the back after he had thrown her off. She then stood up and slid the slide on the Appleoosa Buster to the maximum power setting. Redwood unleashed several large blasts of fire on Copper, trying to beat him down and keep him at bay.

Copper saw the blasts coming as his opponent did something to her rifle.  He started to run sideways, hoping to dodge all the bullets, which unfortunately didn't happen.  One of the bullets pierced his right back hoof and he collapsed, dropping his trident to the ground.  He grabbed his leg as he yelled.  "YEOWCH!  THAT HURT!"

As Copper was on the ground and in pain, Redwood took the opportunity to rush up to him and put the barrel of her weapon right up to the side of his head.

 

"Do y'all yield?" she asked, menacingly.

 

It seemed as though the fight was won for Redwood. Copper was injured, and she held all the power at the moment.

Copper looked stunned as he saw Redwood approach him with the rifle to his face.  Then he smiled and nodded, knowing that he lost the match and that it was right to not continue anymore due to his injury.  "Yeah, I yield." he said.  He got up, holding the trident to keep his balance on his left-hoof, and offered a hoof-shake to Redwood.  "Great match.  The better mare won this one."

"Y'all fought well," Redwood said. "Good match."

 

Copper had been a respectable fighter, and she wouldn't mind teaming up with him for a later fight.

 

She then turned and asked, or at least tried to ask, the computer that had announced the fight, "Alright, how many points do ah get fer winnin' this thing?"

Shadow got up and sat down on the banister that surrounded the arena. He quietly laughed at the fight, not because it was funny, because it kinda looked fun. He removed his cloak and lanyard, then he placed the cloak on the banister, the lanyard around his scaly neck, and waited for the fight to officially end

The computerised voice spoke once more to conclude the match. "Copper Strikes has conceded. Victory goes to Redwood!"

 

Sparkly magical confetti drifted down over the arena as a previously unknown forcefield converting the spectators dissipated. The holographic screen displayed a victory screen for Redwood.

 

"Since this is an exhibition match, no points have been won. However, rest assured, you have won the heart of the audience.". The spectators roared in agreement, well, with the exception of those whom had lost money in the fight, who merely grunted.

 

"The medical centre's near the entrance to the main arena, and you both appear to be in a healthy mental state. Please proceed there yourselves when you're done should you require treatment."

 

The gates to exit the arena opened, and the pillars lowered back into the ground.

 

Back on the VVIP balcony, Excalibur grinned. "What a way to begin the tournament!" He bellowed. "Seeing their fiery and electrifying ( respectively ) will clash against each other fills our hearts with spirit. Now, would anyone else like a duel? Or shall I continue on to the opening ceremony's group Monster battle?"

 

( this is an actual question. The next duel ( should it occur ) will also be the final exhibition match before the Monster fight. Gotta save those 1 on 1s for the ranked matches, eh? )

Even though she didn't get any points, winning the fight was good. It brought Redwood favor, and marked her as a decent opponent if nothing else. Redwood felt around her mouth where she had been kicked, and while she tasted some blood, she seemed mostly fine.

 

"Ah'm ready fer th' monster fight," Redwood announced.

 

The fight with Copper had been quick, and she still had energy to spare.

Second lazily leaned back on his chair, observing the battle through a TV screen in his shop. 'Redwood made good use of my weapon.' He mused. 'Though, I had my money on Copper. His electric trident can make quick work of the energy shield. If only he has used the jet function to dodge and close the gap.'

Copper made his way out of the arena, limping with his trident, trying to keep his balance.  Once he reached the medical center, he pondered on where he was going to put his trident.  He found a nurse to do just that.  "Excuse me.  Where do I put this trident while I'm getting treatment?  I have a hoof that has been shot at and I would like some treatment."

And so the tournament is underway. Photon Jet for a moment cannot decide what is the best choice for him to make. Soon, he made his choice.

 

"Hmm...Exhibition matches are a good way to practice for the big leagues. But who will be my first opponent?" he thought. All the contestants here look very skilled and appear to not hold back at any costs. "Guess I have no choice to find somepony or someone to spar with."

The nurse ( I'll call her Keiko, white coat and blood red mane. Cutie mark is a grinning skull with a medical cross below it. Japanese accent ) took the trident and floated it over to a nearby rack. "Oh, yes, you're injured! Copper Strikes, no? I saw your match. )

 

She brought up a chair for copper to sit.

Blitz shrugged as the fight came to an end and was curious as to what would happen next.

Gale knew that she wouldn't probably be able to do much during the first few rounds alone, so she needed a temporary partner. She didn't think Blitz would want to partner up with her, so she turned her attention to Shadow. "If it's not a problem, do you think we could work together in the monster fights?" She asked, somewhat shyly.

Shadow looked to his left to see a dragon. He said as he kicked his legs onto the banister so they weren't hanging over the edge,

"Hmm, Sure, that's fine with me. 

He opened his wing and curled it around to form a pocket of shadow. Then he pulled out a bottle, and took a few gulps

Copper sat on the chair that was given to him by the nurse.  "Thanks." he said and sat down on it.  He was relieved that he didn't have to put pressure on his bad hoof for the time being, though he wondered what kind of treatment he would be getting.  "So, what does it take to completely heal a shot hoof."

Gale was surprised to say the least when Shadow agree see to team up with her, but she quickly recovered and have a slight nod. "Thanks. My name is Gale, by the way. Who are you?" She asked, somewhat curious. The dragoness hadn't seen a dragon-pony hybrid, so this was a new experience for her.

He opened a portal to where the creature in charge is and said as he poked his head out, 

"Excuse me, but when will the tournament start. Don't get me wrong, the fight was interesting, but I really want to fight something.

Photon Jet felt something unusual. Something that's considered out of this world. He turned round and saw a portal which was opened by somepony or someone extraordinary. A pony-like being that can open portals. Now that's something Photon Jet is intrigued in. How is he able to open portals like that? With curiosity, he trotted to where the portal is.

Keiko peered closely at the injury. A little too closely. "Oh, not much. Just a teensy magical burn for you."

 

She moved over to a battered, brown cupboard and pulled out a chainsaw. "It looks like you'll need AMPUTATION" she cackled, the chainsaw revving up

Copper looked shocked beyond belief.  Amputation?  On him?  Was she a mad mare?!  "WHAT IN CELESTIA'S NAME ARE YOU DOING?!"  he roared, cowering behind the chair, as if it was his only protection.  He wasn't ready to die so early in his life.  He had so much to do anyways.
