@@reader8363,

"Yes," she said. "Sure, I'll just pop over to your prison and rest. Exactly how naive do you think I am?" Vermilion's gray eyes ran over the relic in Shadow's claws. Her eyes narrowed. "I'm sure you'd absolutely love to lock me in a cell and question me. I know how it is with you justice types."

Vermilion had started pacing back and forth, her black tail swishing with each step. She gave Shadow a disdainful look. "I'm not lifting a hoof in the direction of that damn place, Darky," she spat.

Shoosh.

Shadow had a pained expression on his face and said as he closed his claw around the relic,

"I'm hurt that you think I'm like the others. I said ya can rest, didn't say anything about locking you up. Why don't I teleport you there, so you wouldn't have to lift a hoof in the direction of the prison?

"Because I don't trust you, that's why," Vermilion hissed. "I've seen this thing before, and I know from experience that it won't end well for me."

Her eyes darted to the relic in Shadow's metallic claws and narrowed. However, she said nothing. Best not to provoke Shadow unnecessarily. She had to remind herself to restrain her temper; Shadow's underestimation of her intelligence, however, made that extremely difficult.

@@Amorphous,

Shadow sighed and said as well bent the shadows into two chairs,

"I wasn't going to lock you up and I never lie, Sure I keep some of the truth out of what I say, but I don't lie, even in my secondary job."

He pointed at the chair and said as he sat down,

"Let's be civilized and down and talk here, It won't hurt ya in anyway. If it makes ya feel better if I hurt ya or go against my word, you can have this relic

@@reader8363,

With an eyebrow raised and a scowl on her face, Vermilion took a seat across from Shadow. For several minutes, she simply glowered at him. She was tired, and sore, and wanted nothing more than to hide her spoils and pass out. Shadow's offer of rest actually rather tempted her, but she was careful not to let it show. She wanted out, and she could see no way in which Shadow was trying to give it to her.

"What do you want?" she finally asked. "What's your game, oh great prison warden?

@@Amorphous,

Shadow reached into a portal, and pulled out a bottle and said before taking a gulp,

"A few questions, why haven't ya used magic, what did I steal, and why not just walk in to get it if you sentence is up, ya could grab it. Unless you were a prisoner at my prison. Ya don't have to be formal, Shadow will do.

Vermilion snorted. "But," she said, putting a hoof over her chest, "How can I acknowledge how amazing and wonderful you are if I don't give you lots of sarcastic titles?"

"But," she said with a shrug, "The first and third questions have the same answer, and I really want to leave, so I'll tell you if you let me go. The second question will answer itself with a little thinking." Even if that's not really your strong point, she continued, though silently.

Shadow started laughing and said,

"Don't tell me I took your magic away. Of all the things I have taken from prisoners, I got some magic."

He stood up, still chuckling and said,

"Even if I was wrong that is a little funny. I use a lot of flattery to get under creatures skins. This was a little fun than me taking over the prison. Why don't you visit, and maybe with a broken bone or two?"

He pulled back the shadows until the seat that Vermillion was sitting in.

"I like my bones," Vermilion said, standing up. "But I can honestly say that I'd prefer my freedom. And no," she continued, "you didn't take my magic. My sentence was self-terminated. I'm still wearing your ingenious little restrictor ring, Darky."

Tossing her head, she turned around and started to walk away, though she kept an ear turned towards Shadow. To where, she didn't care, as long as she was away from Shadow and his magic.

@@Amorphous,

Shadow moved quietly behind Vermillion and said as he quickly grabbed the ring and took it off,

"Allow me to give it back, and don't cause any more trouble."

He fell into his portal, along with his stuff, and landed in his office. He sat down and looked over his collection of relics as he placed back where they belong

@@reader8363,

Vermilion stared blankly in shock. Gently, she put one hoof up to her neck, feeling the worn fur where her collar had hung. A gentle gray light flowed up her horn as she lifted one of the flaps of her saddlebags gently with telekinesis. A soft smile flowed over her face.

With a graceful toss of her mane, she started to trot, moving to the old warehouse where she had established a temporary base.

Shoosh.
