Differences between ponies and humans

There seem to be several differences between the ponies and their human counterparts. Age aside, Big Mac and Shining Armor don't share the same builds as their pony versions, but Bulk Biceps does. Why?

Maybe Big Mac focuses more on strength and Shining focuses more on strategic thinking, Bulk probably regularly attends a gym outside of school.

Probably because there roles and ages are a little different. 

I think the EQG are younger than their pony counter parts, which should account for at least some of it

It's interesting the differences and Inconsistencies within small horses and humans, like.... human Cheerilee being older than the huMANE7, while her pony counterpart is around the same age as the Mane6. Let's not get started with the sisters, I don;t think they're long lived women in that world
