A Seventh Element

I went back to season 2 episode 10 called secret of my excess and there's a scene where Twilight is talking to Spike in the library and if you look at the bottom of the pile of items there is a stone sphere that resembles the elements.

 

Is it possible that this will be used to make Starlight an element or it's just something the writers put and forgot about?

MLP is like anime. They write as they go. Hay the history is all over the place, and new characters and places are being revealed all the time. So, most likely it was just an artist effect.

That would have nothing to do with the writers. It was the animators who put it there, likely just needing a prop and grabbed one of the Element stones.

Yeah, as much as I like Starlight, giving her an element would be kinda dumb. For one thing, the elements aren't even a part of the plot anymore, so to bring them back just for the sake of giving one to her would feel forced. She can be part of the Mane 7 without having an arbitrary attachment to the other 6 that has been irrelevant to the plot since Season 4.

Meh, They are more or less doing a similar thing in EQG with sunset shimmer seemingly representing Empathy (based on what the staff said and what she did in the movie with twilight), so its not unlikely IMO.

Nah, really, for some reason Sunset's much more appealing to me than Starlight, even though they are supposed to be the same (Sunset Shimmer - Starlight Glimmer, really?).

I hate to tell everyone, but there are seven colors in a rainbow.  So as hard as it is to accept, it isn't out of line to assume that the show might intend for Starlight to be a seventh member of the mane cast.  I hesitate to say 'Element of Harmony', since the Elements were essentially written out of the show in Princess Twilight Sparkle.  But it does make sense that she  might be more/less a permanent addition to the team.

While there's a possibility of a seventh element, I think the stone orb in Secret Of My Excess was just a prop that the animators wanted to put in there for the sake of having a bunch of props.
