gaming Call of Duty Infinite Warfare, who are the SDF?

OK, so COD Infinite Warfare is pretty much all but confirmed now. There's this cryptic trailer called Know Your Enemy. And the game's definitely going to be set in space.

 

First of all, who is this  SDF, ''Settlement Defense Front''? And how does this tie in to ghosts? Or is it completely unrelated to the Ghosts story? Or is this in the Black Ops universe?

 

Please explain.

Probably it's going to be its own standalone universe with no ties to any other games. The Nuketown reference gave me pause, however. But can I be honest?

 

I don't care. I am done with the series. I shouldn't have purchased any past Black Ops II. Let them do what they will. I'm not gonna keep opening up my wallet for every "new and innovative" entry that gets churned out.

Why is it called Infinite Warfare though? I heard all MW games are going to be HD Remastered for it, is this Infinity Ward's Magnum Opus?
