Ballpoint had been driving through the desert with Mist and Sparkle for the past five hours, and she was hoping that they would arrive at their destination soon. The blistering late afternoon sun had been beating down on the car, making it hot and stuffy despite the best efforts of the AC.

 

She was excited to be going to Las Pegasus, and hoped that long drive in the desert heat was worth it.

Mist lay in the back seat of the car, trying to get to sleep. He wanted to be fully rested when he reached Las Pegasus. However the blistering heat was making it very hard to get any shut eye. Mist groaned, "BP, I'm bored," he said not looking up, "how long till we get there?"

"We're gonna be there soon," said Ballpoint. "I think."

 

The sun was hanging low in the sky, and off in the distance, lights could be seen in the early evening. They were close, and not too long after, a sign that read, "Welcome to fabulous Las Pegasus!" could be seen.

"oh brother..." Sparkle said looking at the sign. "something tells me I'm not gonna have the best of times here..." She adjusted her glasses and went back to looking at her laptop "statistics say they ponies who gamble here come out in debt more often than not, so...  I hope you two know what you're doing..."

Mist chuckled, "if we knew what we were doing we wouldn't be coming to Las Pegasas," Mist said jokingly, "so just loosen up a bit and unless you're looking up the best exotic dancing clubs i suggest you put that laptop away." Mist smiled as he sat up. He couldnt beleive he waams finaly in Las Pegasas.

"C'mon, Sparkle, don't be a buzzkill. We got money to blow, and we're here to have a good time. We'll be be at the hotel soon, and then we can have some fun," said Ballpoint.

 

After just a few more minutes of driving they were among the vast neon lights of Las Pegasus, and it wasn't too long until Ballpoint pulled up to the hotel.

Sparkle let it slide for now she wasn't in the best of moods she didn't exactly want to be here but Mist and Ballpoint had dragged her there. "as long as this place has Wi-Fi I'm fine..." Sparkle said walking into the hotel Laptop under her wing. "remind me again why you stopped me studying for this? I know it was boring but I want to pass my Robotics exam"

"Sparkle, have you ever heard of this new concept called 'fun'?" said Ballpoint as she got her luggage and walked into the hotel, "It's pretty cool, you should really try it out sometime."

 

Ballpoint wouldn't let Sparkle just bury her face in her laptop the whole time. They were here to live a little after all.

"yes I have but right now I have an Important Exam... a Very important exam..." Sparkle said glaring back towards Ballpoint. "are you gonna check in so we can put this shit down any time soon or are we sleeping out here?" She sat down and turned on he laptop beginning another revision session

"Trust us Sparkle, a few days relaxing and having fun here will get you pumped and ready for that Robot exam," Mist said happily as he followed Sparkle and Ballpoint. He turned to BP, "we got separate rooms right? Not that I'd have any trouble sharing a room," he said with a wink, clearly joking.

"Actually, the best I could do was one room. It's got two beds and a pullout sofa," said Ballpoint as she went up to the check-in desk. She got three room keys and tossed one to Mist and the other to Sparkle.

 

"They got a bellhop to bring our stuff up, so that means we can get immediately shitfaced."

"Pumped and Ready and Knowledge are two different things Mist..." Sparkle said looking up from her laptop for a split second whilst Mist talked to her.

"brilliant... I CALL A BED!" Sparkle said closing her laptop and running off and to their room rushing to get a bed

"I guess I'll take the couch," Mist said with a smile,"after all it wouldn't be a trip to Las Pegasas without someone passes out from alcohol on the couch." Mist ran up stairs to the room and imediatly collapsed on the couch. He smiled, "this is just as disgusting as I imagined," he said happily.

"you can keep it then I don't envy you what so ever..." Sparkle said as she lay on her bed her laptop on her chest with her revision notes pulled up. "I still can't believe you convinced me to come here..." she said "It's in the middle of a desert! I hate sandy places, sand hates me"

"We're here to get totally wasted, not hide in the room," said Ballpoint as she followed. "Let's head down to the casino and party. It's been almost fifteen minutes and I haven't even had a single drink yet."

 

She was eager to get the fun going to say the least, and she didn't plan on coming back to the room until she couldn't walk.

"I'm pretty surprised my self," Mist said sitting on the bed next to Sparkle, "my theory is that we spoke to the curious side of your brain. The side that wondered what it might actually be like to enjoy yourself." Mist smiled at Sparkle, "while you got that open could you pull up a map to the nearest exotic dance club?"

"Mist why do I get the feeling you want to find one because of the girls and not the actual dancing?" Sparkle giggled

Sparkle thought for a moment. "I guess one drink couldn't hurt too much..." She said cautiously handing the laptop to Mist and following Ballpoint. "I hope you know what your doing Ballpoint..."

As Ballpoint walked into the casino, she scanned the bar for Ironblade. She had planned to meet her there once they got to the hotel.

Sparkle walked over to the bar and asked nervously for a drink, she was regretting coming down now... she was getting a few strange looks being a pony who appeared as a huge nerd in a bar. she took her drink and ran back to Ballpoint hiding behind her "I don't like it here..." she whispered

"It's fine," said Ballpoint as she sat down at the bar and ordered a shot of vodka. "Just have a drink or two and you'll be feeling better. Now, bottoms up," she said before gulping down her shot. "Maybe you should play the tables a little. I'm sure you can put that big brain of yours to use."

"I've heard of ponies who do all kinds of statistics and stuff like that to figure out how to beat the game," said Ballpoint before ordering another shot. "You're smart. You can probably figure out how to win using math or whatever." She paused to drink her second shot, "Or you could just drink with me."

"There's a difference between smart and physic!" Sparkle exclaimed "and don't get me started on slot machines! I've done all the maths all the calculations and they're still almost impossible to win! even with a GCSE In maths and science!" Sparkle said taking a sip from her drink (do you have GCSE's in the states?)

"What the fuck is a GCSE?" said Ballpoint before she ordered one more shot of vodka. This time, she didn't drink it, but instead slid it over to Sparkle. "Here, this stuff is good. Try a little, and maybe you'll loosen up a little. We're here to have some fun, not get stressed."

"A GCSE is a qualification in a specific subject typically taken by school students aged 14–16, at a level below A level... A English thing..." Sparkle said as she pushed the shot of Vodka away "If you couldn't tell by me failing my driving test for being on the wrong side of the road that should give away where I'm from... and the warm beer..."
