It hath been revealed! The next evolution in the Xbox One console line is named Project Scorpio. Apparently, this console is going to provide much more power available to devs, being quoted as 'the most powerful console ever'. What is interesting is that this is not the next console gen or anything. This is another Xbox one unit, with all games being compatible on both. So this tells me, that this system is probably mostly for VR, as we all know, VR is very taxing on PC's currently and we all know as well that Microsoft wants to get into VR. So I have a strong feeling that Scorpio's main focus is going to be VR compatibility, but that is my theory. So unless I need to get a new system by then, I will probably skip it, but I am glad Microsoft is not abandoning the original Xbox one at all. That would be insane to do anyways.

 

What are your thoughts on this new system?

Game compatibility between the two systems is the main thing for me; it would've been SEVERLY aggravating if they were gonna dump the Xbox One just like that; I have enough money invested in that thing anyway.

 

In any case while I am indeed curious of the future of VR, I'm skeptical that it will achieve any more acceptance than 3D was able to; 3DS aside. As such it will depend on the games themselves if I am to purchase another console (same applies to the folks at Sony).
