Copper waited, as his journey in the blizzard was about to begin.  If anyone noticed, he was smiling, as he couldn't wait to go outside for the first time ever since the war.  He wanted to see the sun once again, no matter the circumstance he was about to be in.  As the doors slowly opened, he looked back and waved at the crowd of ponies before turning back around.

Your resident Sonic the Hedgehog fan. Props to Laika for the sig.

Bowie pulled his coat around him tighter, buttoning it up, throwing up the hood. The cold wasn't anything new to him, but he wasn't a fan of the bitting snow. But that was irrelevant now, as he took up the rear  treading up into the cold wasteland above.

"Here goes nothing..." he mumbled to himself, hoping to something that they'd actually get something done

Rearguard passed out the proximity trackers as the group filed past her.

"Remember to stay close! Proximity trackers do not work well at a large distance!" Hidalgo nodded as he passed, waving at the crowd of Unterlot dwellers as the group began to pass into the great wall of white outside the main entrance to Unterlot.

"Well, here goes nothing."

Cyan Flare gulped as the gates opened to reveal the barren white wasteland which was the surface. Her wings twitched slightly with nervousness, but she was almost rather excited to head out into the wilderness above. Following Hidalgo with a shaky gait, she gasped as she was buffeted by freezing cold air and the scent of Windigoes in the distance. She looked back, waving goodbye to her friends without making any effort to disguise her sadness and distress.

Hidalgo drew his clothing around himself, tightening down his winter gear as he motioned for them to move ahead, the wind starting to pick up as the howling became worse and worse. He could see the others following closely behind as he watched the doors close behind them. With a stare, he looked into the white wasteland that had once been green, a mere fifteen years before.

"They entrusted us, and now we go to find our destiny."

@@FullMetalParagon,@@Wolves,

Bowie just sighed, he wasn't so much interested in thoughts of glory or destiny, he just wanted to get out and hopefully find something, anything worth noticing "So we're are we headed exactly, or are we just going to wander around the wasteland?" he called out hoping someone would know, other wise he would have to take charge and he hated that idea

Hidalgo motioned to Bowie, pointing towards what appeared to be spires several kilometers away. Boulders seemed to be strewn about, though the wind seemed to move them as it slammed around, the snow biting against any part unprotected.

"That's the best place to start. Every team was sent out with the express mission of finding something to beat back the winter, protect the Dwelling from freezing over. This area, though... something feels VERY familiar about it."

@@FullMetalParagon, @@The Down Trotten, Cyan Flare struggled to keep her eyes open against the harsh, somehow scorching cold wind as she stepped forward after Hidalgo and Bowie. Also wondering what they should do now, she tilted her head and listened closely to Hidalgo answering Bowie's question.

"Just... wander..." Cyan said quietly to herself, knowing well that this would not be too tough of an instruction for her - until they found something important, and this became a real quest. Her thoughts (and also hoofs) were constantly trailing off, often landing her in places she was barely even aware she was heading until she snapped out of her almost trance-like state. She was always wandering, but often without a goal. This time, however, she would have to stick with this group and keep a keen eye out for anything and everything besides snow, snow, and more snow, which would not be difficult, but figuring out what to do if put on the spot in a situation in which something did happen would likely be very different. Cyan just silently hoped that she would not be relied on to help with making any kind of important decision.

"I swear I recognize this place, too," Cyan spoke up again, raising her voice to be heard above the howling din of the strong, freezing breeze. "I don't know, though. I'm just gonna keep an eye out for anything that could pose a threat."

Hidalgo wandered forward, noticing conical protrusions from under the snow, as if they were standing on ruins. He kicked away some snow, revealing a plaque, partially broken, leaving 'In Memory of' where the name was barely able to be read. He looked up, trying to squint through the snow and ice.

"Flare, Strikes, keep within sight distance, but spread out and see what you can find. I'd like to know exactly where we are currently standing." Hidalgo stepped around, making sure his proximity beacon was still beeping. He looked over at Bowie, who seemed interested in one of the spires.

"Wait, Bowie, don't-" As he stood there, the 'snow' collapsed underneath them, sending all four down into a dark, dark cavern. Hidalgo stood up, looking around before lighting up a torch. Shining the beam around, he counted in his head.

"Everyone all right? Got all your extremities?"

@@FullMetalParagon Cyan felt the snow fall beneath her hoofs and quickly spread her wings, slowing her fall - although she still landed with a 'thud' next to the others in the cavern. She got up and nodded to silently say that she was fine, and looked around in the dark cave. "What just happened?"
