is MLP and King Arthur connected?

we all know that Canterlot is based off of Camalot the story of king Arthur, But before Celestia and Luna lived in Canterlot was there a pony who ruled Canterlot just like King Arthur Pendragon?

 

Was Starswirl the bearded the MLP version of Merlin?

 

Is Twilight the new King Arthur?

 

and are her friends the new Knights of the round table?

See, i always saw the round table in the castle as a reference to the roundtable of King Arthur.

 

King Arthur decided to have this Roundtable, so that he wouldn't at the end of everybody else. He wanted his man to see, that he is equal to them, eventhough he is the king of the british.

 

You can say the same with Twilight Sparkle being the princess of friendship. She is a princess, but she dosen't want her friends to be seen as somebody who is above them.

Nah, i don't think it will be that much of a King Arthur story. Equestria is inspired by many different folklores, especially Greek Mythology. Just making this a King Arthur story wouldn't make sense and also be kinda lazy.

I think that it'd be good to HAVE an arthurian story/area for MLP's universe, but not specifically for them to try and rope the "mane" area into it.

 

Basically, have an ancient city somewhere cut off from equestria that has alot of similarities, but make it in its own bottlneck area, like how there's aztec civilization outcroppings in the equestrian area that aren't part of "mane" equestria under celestia.

 I think MLP's rich enough to have a fantasy kitchen sink thing going on with there being different parts of the world that have different myths than just greek ones, but with greek the flavor of Equestria (and especially pegasi)

I agree that there could be some allusions to old fantasy legends or whatever, but outside of the Cutie Map (item not the episode) I don't really see a huge connection to King Arthur.

the story of King Arthur describes a table he had someone make for him so he can show his men they are all equal cause they are sitting next to him and in Medevil times (british) sitting next to the king meant that knight was special or important to the king.

 

moving on to MLP the cutie map, its round each of the Mane 6 are sitting round it like in the story of Arthur so that is one massive clue.
