Magic has an explanation in equestria, sociability is magic

It can be studied, it IS studied, and I just noticed something about it.

Lets see if you can spot it without me spelling it out for you first off.

Starlight- Manipulates a whole village psychologically. Has powerful magic since youth.

Twilight- Spent alot of time studying and reading. Is a princess, has powerful telekinesis.

Celestia- Can move the whole sun with telekinesis.

Rarity- Can move fabric with telekinesis.

Granted this is a small sample, so my information might have a few potential conclusions rather than an absolutely certain one.

Also, its not just that they were set up for their lives since the beginning (Rarity's story clearly demonstrates how fictional she is whenever she is shown young for instance, granted its humor its also her destiny). Its more like they can do magic where they already have social influence.

But then this idea it turns out is actually probably incorrect due to Starlight's childhood crush character. (yeah don't know his name lol)

But that could be explained as well, he is like a solitary magician, he has shown himself to not be well socially. So few would know how knowledgable he is, and even then he doesn't do anything new, he only parrots his understanding, doesn't really do much with it that's outside the box. He is a by the books sort, in the way his solutions seem obvious to him because they(his solutions) were trained by the books.

The other characters have their own special magic.

Which leads me to two conclusions. Well sociability (friendship) is literally magic. It exerts where your control is. Celestia helps govern the world so she has wordly magic. She is not very socially outgoing though, so she fell to Chrysalis (its false equivocation to presume she is very good at everything just because she can move the sun). And Rarity is an authority on dresses nearly, and knows about dresses even makes new dresses. Twilight leads the party it makes sense she has powerful magic enough to inspire the party. And starlight is too good socially(manipulative), so she is too good at magic.

Second conclusion, well its basic marketing to say each pony is special and say that magic is based on sociability, because if you are special you feel nice and good and appreciated. If you are social, you discuss the show more. And subconsciously perhaps, everyone wants magic to be powerful and filled with wonderful experiences, then also people who are socially motivated more by those things (the positive bronies, outgoing etc) are more likely to discuss the show appropriately and convince others to join who are also social, that's how it becomes viral.

Just something I picked up on.

Hmm.... Interesting. I have a feeling, however, that this is only applicable to ponies. Discord has worldly and social influence, so he has magic that affects that, but he is also able to open portals to other dimensions, and I can't find an explanation for that.

I also can't find an explanation for Tirek and Scorpan's magic myself, maybe someone else can.

Dragon 'magic' (turning spike into a glowstick, the dragon sceptre) might fit, it's associated with the one that has exerted power over other Dragons and as such it helps in doing so, but then there's Spike and his ability to send messages via magic fire.

That doesn't really explain magic in Equestria at all, as your title says. In order for it to do so, you would have to explain every facet of magic, including pegasi and Earth pony's passive magic, as well as the above stated Tirek/Scorpan's magic

Let's see.... Chrysalis defeating Celestia is simply because Chrysalis had gotten a power boost from Shining Armor. Also, Celestia's behavior suggests to me that by nature she IS socially outgoing, its just her role does not allow her as much opportunity to express it.

Doesn't work with Twilight as she had powerful magic before she was ever particularly sociable- and she's good with it because she's put a lot of work into being good with it. Same goes for Rarity and her dresses. Destiny, as expressed by the Cutie Marks plays a role too.

Sunburst is almost a Twilight parallel- focusing on books rather than socializing, so naturally he's well read and thus knows a lot, but doesnt get much chance to practice it, especially if he focused more on the theory side than the practical.

Starlight we still don't know much about, but she had to have been able to do the whole Cutie Mark removal thing before tricking ponies into agreeing to it- I doubt being able to manipulate ponies is enough to give you strong magic, assuming that doing so is.

Whilst friendship is magic in Equestria, I do not think it is as literal as you think- Friendship allows a group of individuals to achieve things they could not otherwise do, making the whole greater than the sum of the parts. Oh, and fueling the Elements of Harmony, but that's something beyond most ponies.
