TheWhiteBowser 187 October 18, 2016 Share October 18, 2016 So we're gonna go off some of what we know here first. 1. The show MLP:FiM has confirmed through numerous illustrations and episodes that stallions are ALMOST (not) always somewhat taller than mares. 2. Equestria Girls has somewhat continued this trend (I think) correct me if I'm wrong please. What we don't know. 1. Is the height of your pony dependent on the height of your human self or is it? If you're a male then will your oc will always be somewhat taller than SOME mares regardless of your real world height? 2. If you are a relatively short male human then is your pony oc the same size as a regular mare pony? 3. If you are a tall female human then is your pony oc oriented like Sassy Saddles or Princess Cadence. Or once again does the height of your female self not matter? Take for example me. I'm 5 foot 5 inches. Does that mean my pony oc would be the height of Rainbow Dash? But then would that make Rainbow Dash's Equestria Girl's OC the same height as me in real life? And if that's true do we assume that all regular mares of the same height (a.k.a. Fluttershy, Rarity, Applejack, etc.) are all around 5 foot 5 inches in Equestria girls? And how tall does that make the male oc's or the stallions? Does that make them like around 5 foot 8 inches respectively? See where I'm getting at here with this? Discuss down below. GrimGrimoire 4,973 October 18, 2016 Share October 18, 2016 No, i don't see at all. Too me it looks like you are over thinking it heavily. i don't think people necessarily try to design their OCs around their physical height and dimensions, so much as either A. Make it similar to them in certain personality characteristics and interests. Or putting in some minor physical features such as braces, glasses, hairstyles, maybe birthmarks or something... in that regard transforming themselves into their OC as it were... B. Just make them just visually appealing and interesting backstory wise, and no worry about how well they match up to them. Also, since their are no humans on the show, it is really hard to gauge their exact height and dimensions in regards to "real ponies". I think most people just make their OCs whatever height makes sense to them in the context of the show. ~No profound statement needed~

Mares on the show only seem to have 2 distinct heights. Normal aka Fluttershy height. And tall aka Celestia Luna height. Unless of course you're a filly like Applebloom or Sweetiebelle. When compared to Stallions they can have up to 4 heights. Snails as small, Snips as just as tall as a regular mare but skinnier, slightly taller than mares like Sky Stinger, and large like Big Mac or Troubleshoes. If you are bothered by my overanalyzing then you shouldn't be here this thread was created with the intent of analysis. So deal with it Edited October 18, 2016 by TheWhiteBowser
GrimGrimoire 4,973 October 18, 2016 Share October 18, 2016 If you are bothered by my overanalyzing then you shouldn't be here this thread was created with the intent of analysis. So deal with it I never said I was bothered by it. I said you were over thinking it. There is a difference. It is virtually impossible to figure out a set standard on height and dimension when there seems to be no absolute way to hold it to said standard... there are too many unknowns, and the worst part is, 99% of people just make their OC as tall as they want to without any regard for their actual height ratio I would imagine. There are several breeds here on Earth, and they have varying heights, from small breeds like Shetlands, to much larger breeds like a Connamara. Which breed are the G4 ponies based upon? All of them? None of them? I personally think that question alone would case a lot of debate since everyone may have an their own ideas and thoughts behind it... I have seen fan art representing them the size of toddlers to humans, which is far smaller than any pony breed in relation a grown human, and I have seen them large enough for an adult male to saddle them up and go for a ride with no issues. So yeah... that is my point. I my personal opinion, I am 6'1 so in my head I imagine Twilight's head about reaches my shoulder standing flat footed. Each personal opinion may vary. 1 ~No profound statement needed~

Ah I see what you mean now. And that is indeed true and does indeed make this analysis counterintuitive. But for the sake of consistency why can't we just focus on the reality rather than the fantasy. I.E. exclude the fact that some people fib their height when creating their OC. As that factor only tarnishes this analysis. Interestingly enough it sounds like you'd probably be the height of Shining Armor if not a tad taller. IDK I mean Twilight has grown taller in the show. I'm personally waiting for in the series finale where she grows twice the size of Troubleshoes and destroys half of Equestria XD There are several breeds here on Earth, and they have varying heights, from small breeds like Shetlands, to much larger breeds like a Connamara. Which breed are the G4 ponies based upon? All of them? None of them? I personally think that question alone would case a lot of debate Another good point. As there is no clear indication as to what breed of horses the ponies are in G4. We can assume that ponies like Fluttershy and Applejack are Shetland and perhaps Sassy Saddles is Connamara but this is all debateable. I guess it's just fun to speculate

Shetlands stand about waist high on me at the head. Full grown Connamara can pass for horses and be taller than me at the head. I just assume the FiM are a made up species and base their height on what I feel most comfortable with. I see Big Mac for example as draft horse and as such much larger than i am, and I sort of build my generic measurements from there. It is fun to speculate, but insanely difficult to come up with any exact real world measurements, which is why I just decided to go with how tall Twilight is in my own mind, and base the others around that measurement. You can use objects seen in their world to get round measurements as well... although even then it can be somewhat difficult to tell. I mean exactly HOW big is that wagon in relation to a human being for example? Hasbro has always had problems with scale in their universes so I just go with it either way. 1 ~No profound statement needed~
Lillim 45 October 21, 2016 Share October 21, 2016 FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!!! Jk... But really trouble shoes is extra large..I'd say your oc's height is really based off yours you see when I first joined my oc was tall then as I decided a black and red alicorn queen was a bit to much I made Lillim who is just a tad shorter then every other pony (I'm 5'2 irl and I got that at my final growth spirt (before I made lily) :crackle: Huggle me _o:
cmarston1 5,964 October 22, 2016 Share October 22, 2016 Thanks to Equestria Girls, I think that we can have a rough estimate of how tall the ponies are to humans. Someone made this analysis a while ago due to the blooper reel of Friendship Games.
