Twilight's fears sabotaged Sunset?

Back during "The Crystal Empire" part 1&2, it was revealed that Twilight's worst fear was no longer continuing under Sunbutt's mentorship. It was also in "Lesson Zero" where Twilight so desperately feared failing her mentor and being separated/banished from her, that she had no qualms about brainwashing an entire town to stay in Sunbutt's good graces through a fake friendship report.

 

So knowing that, and learning from Sunbutt in EQG that she desired to have a former student of hers return (quite specifically saying: "I had ALWAYS hoped that Sunset Shimmer would someday use it to return; to COME BACK to Equestria, seeking my guidance."), did Twilight fear that Sunset returning risked her own relationship with Sunbutt, which was why Twi left Sunny in the human world with the Humane5, rather than bringing her back home? Was it nothing more than jealousy of wanting Subutt's attention all to herself, and the possibility of Twilight's worst fears of losing her mentor's exclusivity that led Twilight to leave Sunset behind?

Maybe Twilight just thought it was best Sunset should stay behind and try to make up and move past what she did in the human world. It was the human world she tormented after all. She also left her in the hands of the mane 5, so she might have felt that was best.

 

 It's not like Sunset asked to come back or anything anyway, if she wanted to she could have still gone back through the portal.

Hmm...I didn't really get the sense that Twilight was jealous of Sunset Shimmer. At the time of the first EQG, Twilight was no longer Celestia's student, and was at the beginning of forging her own path as a princess. This already limited her interaction with Celestia as she started to become preoccupied with her duties as a princess, so I would doubt that she would feel threatened if Sunset resumed as Celestia's pupil. In fact, Twilight would probably be happy for her!

 

Twilight was doing what she thought was best for the safety of Equestria, and for Sunset. In her position, I probably would have done the same thing, considering Sunset had lost control of the magic she acquired, turned into a power hungry demon, and threatened to launch an attack on Equestria! Despite Sunset's apology, she still needed to heal and become trustworthy again, and I bet Twilight assumed that the human world was a safer place to do so. Plus, Sunset never asked to return to Equestria during her apology. Twilight also seemed to see the Human 5 as a great friendship opportunity for Sunset!

 

Running away from the damaged she caused in the human world and not working to fix it would not have been a good lesson for Sunset, anyway. ^^

If anything it was Sunset who was jealous of Twilight and not vice versa.
