LasVegas Dashie 34 December 29, 2016 Share December 29, 2016 So my OC has been mistaken for a mare every now and then, becuase he has a short muzzle. I like his muzzle short, because the stallion muzzle in the show, just looks a little odd to me, does anyone feel the same way? My OC is in my profile picture that I drew myself. Here's a better picture
Clod 8,294 December 29, 2016 Share December 29, 2016 I completely agree, it does look odd. That's why Glaze decided his OC, Wooden Toaster, would be female. (then a bunch of people got confused about Glaze's gender and if his name was Glaze or Wooden Toaster or if Wooden Toaster was just the OC..) Anyway, the problem is that people get used to male muzzles looking one way and female muzzles another. That's why this confusion happens.

Yeah, my OC is still male, but I liked the short muzzle, so I just did it.
AaronMk 280 December 29, 2016 Share December 29, 2016 The important thing to keep in mind is that apart from a lack of eye-lashes, feminine form is most often defined by round figures or edges. Masculine form is most often associated with "harder" or straight lines and sharper edges. A stallion pony could just as well have a short muzzle, but the show's mare muzzle is designed to be distinctly feminine in form: soft and round. The opposite can be said of mares with too many hard edges and sharp angles: they look more masculine. This has been an aspect that causes confusion in the style of CaptainHoers: his style is reliant on hard edges and it tends to make his mares very androgynous, if not straight up Rule 63 them to some people. Sweet Pen 1,348 December 29, 2016 Share December 29, 2016 To be honestly, It's a bit hard for me to get the muzzle shape of a female OC round, so I tend to do their muzzles like Celestia/Luna. Yet I mix a lot female with male muzzles, so sometimes they look the same. Totally not a support main. Battletag: Cloudie#11327

FanOfManyShows 396 December 29, 2016 Share December 29, 2016 (edited) It's not something I haven't heard of, but it doesn't look odd to me, even once I know their actual gender. There's this tumblr I know of, he draws his stallions with curved muzzles as well. Here's one of the many images he's made, Done by Pony Ivan the name of the tumblr blog. The picture can be found at it's original post, which is here: http://pony-ivan.tumblr.com/post/153885699101/v-nukepone There's probably more out there who do similar. LasVegas Dashie 34 December 29, 2016 Author Share December 29, 2016 Thank you~ This is a very old drawing I did but notice how the two ponies look very similar in shape, yet the blue one is female, and the gray one is male, I just go with the short muzzle cause I like it. Aside from pong creator, most stallion muzzles are just standard show style because people think, well some, think that that's the only way to make a stallion, when the truth is you just gotta be really creative. This is another example of how I do muzzles on female characters. Yea, it seems really.... how it says, they look mature, yet it's my style. Totally not a support main. I haven't developed much of a style, because it took me months just to come up with an OC design, but it's good enough to know it's mine.
