ManaMinori 4,146 February 26, 2017 Share February 26, 2017 While doing research on the Norse runes, I came across an interesting one in particular- Ehwaz. This rune literally means “horse” and signifies friendship; trust, harmonious teamwork, trust, learning of ourselves through others, manifesting your greatest potential. Sound familiar? 2 Under the Jellicle Moon- a site with cuteness, cat boys, and comic strips / Star Dreams Fanclub
SanityNotIncluded 335 February 26, 2017 Share February 26, 2017 Well, MLP certainly isn't based in Norweigan lore, but that's an interesting find nonetheless.
Jeric 46,873 February 26, 2017 Share February 26, 2017 I hope not. Roman Horses were beheaded and placed in a way that a hex would be sent to Eirek and Gunhilda. History aside, it is a cool find, though Nordic, Scandinavian, and Celtic symbolism of horses is usually a mixed bag. For instance, kelpies as the progenitor of sea ponies would be curiously bizarre. Cool find though.
Goat-kun 2,530 February 26, 2017 Share February 26, 2017 (edited) Futhark has runes that represent cow, giant, sun, man, and lots of other things. Ehwaz also means transportation/progress. Horses were important means of transportation back in the day, so it is no surprise that a rune represents them in such manner. Thus one could say that the emphasis is not so much on the horse but on the person riding it. I hope not. You're talking about a nidstang curse. Witches still use it today I'm told. You haven't been to the deep end until you've encountered things like each-uisge. Oh, I've been there. In fact, I don't think I ever left. Edited February 26, 2017 by Goat-kun
