ManaMinori 4,149 March 5, 2017 Share March 5, 2017 How prominent do you guys think the Sparkle family- a once purely unicorn family with children powerful in magic- might be, now that they have 5 alicorn Princesses in their family (Twilight, Cadance, Flurry Heart, and by extension, Sunbutt and Luna), and two princes (Shining Armor and by extension, Prince Blueblood)? I think season 7 should be as good a time as any to address how the parents might be effected by having such powerful lineups in their family, and how the rest of the Canterlot elite treats them. 1 Under the Jellicle Moon- a site with cuteness, cat boys, and comic strips / Star Dreams Fanclub
cmarston1 5,964 March 5, 2017 Share March 5, 2017 They were already rich if they were living in Canterlot and had some pretty good connections with Princess Celestia, but now that Shining Armor married a princess and is now ruling over the Crystal Empire, and Twilight is the princess of friendship, the family's social status must have gone up the roof. Daring_Do 552 March 5, 2017 Share March 5, 2017 (edited) Yeah, going off of Sweet and Elite, the Canterlot social hierarchy seems to depend heavily on connections. Rarity was able to get an "in" with Fancy Pants once he learned she knew the princess, her falsely claiming to know the Wonderbolts' trainer boosted his esteem of her further, and of course knowing Fancy Pants himself got her a hoof in the door with the Canterlot elite. So yes, I'd agree Twilight's family has gotten a major boost in the hierarchy from all this. My current headcanon, btw, is that Canterlot is akin to a city-sized Versailles (with Princess Celestia, of course, being Louis XIV "the Sun King"). I'd go more with Canterlot = Rome, Castle = Vatican, Princesses = Pope. Twilight's (nonroyal) family is probably a pony version of The Kennedys & they are as prominent as they choose to be

Celestia might be an older Arthur, long grown secure and sedate in long times of peace. (Obviously unlike Arthur, she never died).
sweetolebob18 728 March 6, 2017 Share March 6, 2017 Yes, but more Arthur/Merlin than straight Arthur. Or would that make Starswhirl = Merlin, Mane 6 = Knights of the Round Table, Luna = Lancelot (mighty but flawed knight) This would make Twilight's family = the family Arthur grew up with. (ICR & I'm too shiftless & inept to look it up) Well, one thing seems certain. These days, they don't worry about paying the rent.

Yeah, I feel like the S5 map table has some inspiration from the Round Table. A royal and her companions, all seated around a round table like equals, and going on quests. Starswirl is a good Merlin too.

Luigi 7,871 March 30, 2017 Share March 30, 2017 The only thing I'm worried about is why we haven't seen any family reunions. Shouldn't you think S.A. and Twilight should visit their parents on special occasions like Hearths Warming?
