Discordrules123 10 March 31, 2017 Share March 31, 2017 Has anyone else considered that the cloud freezing part in "Equestria Games" didn't really make much sense, because from what I can tell that arrow should have flown right through the cloud instead of piercing it. Goat-kun 2,528 March 31, 2017 Share March 31, 2017 But-but-but it was a magic arrow that freezes everything it touches Ice arrows are a misapplied Phlebotinum.
Luigi 7,870 March 31, 2017 Share March 31, 2017 Scientifically speaking, it actually does make sense. Clouds are made of condensed liquid water, as such the showmakers would think they can be frozen by ice arrows.
Discordrules123 10 April 1, 2017 Author Share April 1, 2017 But wouldn't the arrow need to hit something before spreading the ice? I could be wrong but it seemed like that's how they work.
cmarston1 5,959 April 1, 2017 Share April 1, 2017 It's a magic arrow, in a world filed with pastel colored ponies who control the weather, who's destinies are tied to magical flank tattoos. It isn't the hardest thing the show has asked us to accept.
Truffles 2,033 April 1, 2017 Share April 1, 2017 Since Pegasi (and alicorns) can walk on clouds it's not much of a stretch to believe that a magic ice-arrow could freeze such a cloud. I guess if it were feasible in real life to drop the temperature of a cloud all at once, it would likely precipitate out all of its liquid since it's saturation point would be reached. I suppose it would simply start snowing? But in the show these arrows seems to crystalize with ice whatever they touch - including clouds. Are you a Spike fan? Cwanky 17,602 April 2, 2017 Share April 2, 2017 I just actually rewatched this scene and it seems like the whole incident could have been avoided. All the Crystal Empire officials had to do was hold the ice arrow competition during a day where the sky was clear, or alternatively have workers come up and clear the area of any clouds. Surely they should have anticipated the possibility of stray ice arrows hitting a cloud, which is basically condensed water? I expect this sort of unprofessionalism from the Dunder Dolts, but not the Crystal Empire. Somewhere in that crowd, Ms. Harshwhinny was facepalming furiously. Discordrules123 10 April 2, 2017 Author Share April 2, 2017 I guess the whole ice arrow being able to affect the cloud does make some sense. I'm still a little perplexed as to how it could have pierced it though, but I guess I'll let this slide since it does seem to help give Spike his big heroic moment, and it might be the best that Dave Polsky could come up with.
