Something I thought about after I saw Spike imitate Rarity in the season premiere. As we know, Spike has had feelings for Rarity since the beginning of the show. Who voices G4 Spike? Cathy Weseluck. Trivia: who voiced G3 Rarity? Answer: Cathy Weseluck. Has Spike's crush been an actor allusion all along?

I don't think so, however it is kinda funny to point out, that the voice of G3 Rarity, plays a character who has a crush on G4 Rarity.

I highly doubt there is a connection but this is a neat piece of trivia that I never knew. Learned something new when I never expected to. XD If there is a connection of some kind, like if she confirmed it, that would be clever.

From my recollections Lauren Faust said the whole crush thing was something she just threw into the script and only later in production did the show decide to make it a running gag of sorts. However, whether the initial idea came from her knowing who was cast to voice Spike is an interesting question to ask about!

There are quite a few voice actors who have worked on previous generations. It is a concidence though, or maybe intentional, but not too surprising.
