Cast 238 May 14, 2012 Share May 14, 2012 I'm looking to get a tablet pc to start doing more detailed artworks on the computer, I have a wacom normal tablet that has gone out and an old VisTablet that works great but I think its time to take art to the next level. I have not owned anything like a tablet pc before so I'm trying to figure out what I need, I've worked with a normal tablet and paper my entire life so its a real change. Does any pony out there have any recommendations on drawing pc tablets? I need something that will read a Stylus, run photoshop and maybe even a light version of flash. I'm not loaded with money but I have a budget of around $600 to spend right now, I have looked into the eee slate and its a nice art machine but out of my price rang atm and the battery is really bad, any artists out there able to help with this tablet issue? Thanks every pony "We can see our world through any darkness, with all of us joined together, in friendship"
Love4discord18 269 May 14, 2012 Share May 14, 2012 I don't know much about tablet pcs right now. I'm stuck with a laptop and wacom bamboo fun small tablet lol If you go to bestbuy or future shop and tell a sales person what you want I'm sure they can get you what you need in your price range. But remember to tell them your budget as well. ~If You Want Me To Reply To Your Post, Quote My Post~ ( Siggy by me. Cast 238 May 14, 2012 Author Share May 14, 2012 Sadly I have tried that and no one around here seems to know anything about art programs and tech to run them well, had a guy at Bestbuy 3 days ago tell me they don't sell computers over 4 gb of ram, and I went over myself and they had a lot over that it was kind of sad because if I had the money on me he would have lost a sale lol Anyways I will find one I'm just trying to get all the data I can before buying one, plan to be using it for a few years and want to make sure its the right one lol I don't know much about tablet pcs right now. Like a tablet with a screen? That way you can just stick with the computer you got? ~If You Want Me To Reply To Your Post, Quote My Post~ ( Siggy by me. Thanks every pony Do not get a tablet computer, they are not the same thing. What makes drawing tablets so good is the level of sensitivity they can detect. Most tablet computers have relativly low levels of pressure sensitivity since they aren't made for art, but for touching and navigating. If you want to take it to the next level then get a large Intous tablet. The screen tablets are not worth the money because drawing on the screen itself isn't that big of a deal at all. I would not upgrade to a cintiq even if I wont the lottery. wacom is the industry standard by far. Edited May 14, 2012 by Bohtty Legit signature made by Shift. Java Jive 440 May 14, 2012 Share May 14, 2012 (edited) Your best bet is to look around a few forums such as this one http://forum.tabletp...ew.com/general/. Maybe you'll get a better understanding, you could register and ask what you have asked here. Personally looking at your situation i'd say focus on getting a new PC and try getting an Intuos5 or something later on for that amount of money you'd probably have to pay for it. Especially with rendering and the option of having greater RAM memory than a tablet pc. But if you think that a tablet PC is something for you and you are convinced of it, you should watch this youtube video -EP121 [media=]http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ZtfqJtGBdQ -Samsung 7 Apparently, reading the top comments, running photoshop on the EP121 is possible, so i take it also Flash. Also one of the others i keep running into is the Samsung 7 series slate pc, but its a way more expensive if i'm right. I'll look around a bit some more tomorrow, see if i can get slightly wiser out of it. I never looked into these things myself. Edited May 14, 2012 by JavaJive Let's go downtown. Kapi 215 May 15, 2012 Share May 15, 2012 Everyone else pretty much got it. Just a few notes as well. I personally have a Tablet PC, an older Acer TravelMate C110. MOST, but not all Tablet PCs lack a CD/DVD drive, meaning you'll need another way to install software from CD ( My preferred method is using ImgBurn to rip the ISO image, and then use MagicDisc on the Tablet to mount the iso file.) Also, look for a Tablet PC that will accept input from an EMR stylus. The stylus I have is pretty cool, in many programs, I can flip it upside down and use the "eraser" on it, like a natural pencil. I think most Wacom tablets use the same technology, so you should be used to it. As for software, on mine, Photoshop works pretty well. Since I am not an artist, I don't use it much, but since I'm a student, I have access to a free copy of AutoDesk Sketchbook, which is pretty cool. I hear InkScape is good too, but I personally haven't tried it. I'll edit this with any more info I can provide.
