That's the last time I try to do something nice for others

I'm upset, because I spent months trying to plan an event for the community over on Gaia Online's forums. I worked with more experience community members,, I pestered the Gaia Online staff for weeks- moderators, coders, just about everyone. I sent out as many invites as I could, while hoping Gaia Online staff would make an announcement, like they said they would, but even when they did (after numerous cash shop related announcements that day, and only continued to be buried under cash announcements after it WAS announced), I got screwed over in the end. Only a handful of people came to the event after it had been "officially" announced by site staff, fewer still actually sticking around for more than 1 post. I have little hope that anyone else will bother to show up for the remaining days of the event. Whereas a "premium paying" user got their user-run event featured in a "hot topics" forum, far beyond the 24 hours that they paid for it, and got significant amounts of attention to their event about a week later.

I'm just tired. Tired of trying to do nice things, and tired of being let down. I've learned my lesson. I'm never going to host another community event on Gaia Online, or anywhere else ever again, because it'll just flop hard. I  feel like I can't do nice things for people without it blowing up in my face.

I'm sorry that has happened to you. The internet can be a cold place. You do so much to spark lively discussions on the forums here. Thank you. I know it hurts to be ignored, and I hope you don't experience something similar here.

That's why I stopped going on Gaia myself they are very money hungry and to do anything on the site it requires money so I ended up leaving and never returned, but if you ever did decide to do another event you could probably do it on here if the admins allow it, but the internet is not exactly the kindest place you will get those who screw you over, but then you'll get those who are very kind its a hit and miss just like with anything I say don't give up on being kind and doing things to bring others together just don't do it on Gaia I'm surprised its still even running as a site, but don't let one site change the way you feel and think all together people on Gaia have usually been ignorant and I don't see it changing now I'm not saying everybody on the site is I'm just saying some are so like I said don't let a site stop you from being kind I don't know what the event was, but hey its their loss for those who missed out on it.

the internet, and the real world also. People are just plain unappreciative. I've always known that, but every so often, you just need to be reminded, I guess. Anyways- that's partially the reason why I've cut back on posting here- and not really felt like sharing my art on dA. Unappreciative people just sap the joy out of doing what I love doing. Its hard for me to find the passion that I once had- even if I want to do it for myself. This Gaia Online event fail only served as a reminder of that.

Que sera sera, I guess

It's to bad they leave you hanging. People are terrible.

I don't know what Gaia is (I suppose a forum), so I can't say much about that.

Where I'm interrested in is in your DA page and the art you're producing there. What is your username on DA? And where it is about?

If I don't understand something or Interpret it wrong, I'm dutch. Sometimes I gamble for meanings of the words. And sometimes I write the wrong words, like week and weak for example. Sorry for it already. :smug:
