Just imagine if animation production could be fully automated

Just imagine what it would be like if there was an AI technology that could easily automate software like for writing, storyboarding, animation (2d and 3d), background art, 3d modeling, rendering, compositing, special FX, video/audio editing, sound effects, music, and even voice acting. It could make things move so fast, that it could only take a few weeks if not days to create a full scale animation.

For example, for a 2d animation program like Flash or Toon Boom, like if you're doing frame by frame animation, the technology would allow for every drawn frame to be made every second, if not less. It would follow your mind on how you want the frames to be. Same would go for inking, coloring, and shading, as well as compositing at the end. There could also be a way to simulate multiple animators, each drawing frames for different scenes.

If you're writing a script, whatever software your using would take only a few minutes to write a complete story that you want made.

For music, you wouldn't need to hire additional human musicians to do music for you, you can just use a workstation like FL Studio or Pro Tools and then use existing VST software like from East West and Native Instruments, and the technology would make work even quicker for it.

For voice acting, there's an upcoming software from Adobe called Voco, which is made to edit voice speeches. Here's a link about it. https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Now, if it would be made to not only do that, but also being able to generate tone, speed, and emotion, you wouldn't even need to hire voice actors and the software could just do everything on its own. There could even be a way to generate laughing, crying, screaming, etc. All would probably be needed would be plugins being libraries of different people to take voices from young adults,to middle aged adults,to elders.

I don't like the idea..there's something special about people putting ink to paper that if a machine were to do it that the magic gets lost.  We'd also lose the following.

Time to adjust/reset and be ready for the next season. If animation was automated seasons could be done in a few months..there's always a risk of someone hacking and leaking finished work before it gets officially released. I think the gap between seasons is also a good time for communities to strengthen and get closer

VA's could spend a day recording lines and be done in a month and that's money potentially lost from their pockets

Artists would be rendered obsolete and would need to look for other ways to make their rent or other bills.

I agree with everything you said except the first part. Yes, Animation on paper has always left a special place in our hearts, but with software like Flash, Harmony, TVPaint, and Opentoonz, hand drawn animation can now be done digitally via tablet without resorting to paper.

As for your other points, this doesn't necessarily apply to big time studios, just ones that are on a budget, and want to make quality work more quickly.

The AI could work in a way that it would follow the mind of what the writer wishes.

Machines and programming may be able to streamline and speed up the process, but they will never have a soul, which is what breathes life into anything creative. Too many things nowadays lack that soul and it shows. You can't just churn out a product and hope to capture something that a human being will respond to on a deeper level. I like a lot of the technological breakthroughs in animation and movie-making tools over the years, but I'll always prefer the older, hand-drawn 2D animation of the past. It lives, and without that feeling of life I could never connect with the characters or the story in a lasting way.

I don't like the idea of this "Skynet" future we seem to be headed towards where everything is automated. Jobs will be lost and too much trust will be placed in computer and AI programs to fulfill every function. We have smart homes, smart phones, voice manipulators and synthesizers, retinal scans, bitcoin, etc. Call me paranoid but software and programming is highly prone to manipulation and it would only take a few skilled hackers to ruin or disrupt a society completely reliant on digital technology. Just think of all the damage that the recurring government leaks and DDOS attacks have accomplished.

Yes, this would help, but I wouldn't want to exclude real voice actors for that matter. Taking humanity out of the loop on any level is just not a good idea to me.
