Luna's Tantabus

What would've happened once Luna's Tantabus got out to the real world? Would Luna just turn into Nightmare Moon again? Would all the ponies have never ending nightmares?

No to the first, yes to the second. The Tantabus only creates nightmares, and Princess Luna's nightmare is to see others suffer because of her actions. If it escaped it would warp reality much like Discord had while in power except it'd be nightmarish not chaotic. Princess Luna would simply be made to watch it all go down while unable to help anyone.

Also, the flying books look like eyes and the one on the Tantabus's head makes it look high.

So how exactly would that be accomplished tho? What would the end goal be?

Feeds on Lunas guilt and the ponies fear, produces more nightmares resulting in more fear it can feed off of. Once it grows powerful enough it can escape into the real world where it's no longer bound and can create an infinite loop of fear production and consumption.
