How do you think Songs work in Equestria?

We have seen very very often how many ponies and creatures can burst into song.

But what do you think that means? do you think it just happens when the moment is right? is magic involved?

I think the song has power to draw other ponies to join in whether they want too or not.

its the magic of friendship, remember how Pinkie pie was singing ever since the first episode(she always had tons of friends) while the others even commented on it(tell me she's not.. /she is..) but then as they found friendship themselves they also burst into singing often enough
