Fayte stood still for a moment after the ghost disappeared, shock from the events that just occurred. He could of got himself killed.. Then he looked down to the ground to see Alice sobbing on the ground. That's why he rushed in. This was the reason. He had to protect her. Slowly, he approached her and knelt beside her. He softly said,

"Alice... shh. It's ok. I told you I was going to protect you..."

Alice looked up at him and threw her arms around him, sobbing. She clutched onto him, burying her face in his chest so she couldn't see anything but darkness. She shivered every now and again, the dream she had repeating in her mind.

Fayte wrapped his arms around her and softly rubbed her back. He whispered into her ear,

"Alice... it's ok. He's gone now. I told you I was going to protect you. Nothing is ever going to get you while I'm around."

Alice sobbed quietly again and held onto him tightly. "I don't understand...he seemed so..angry.." She breathed. "Why was he so angry?" She said, her voice breaking on the last word. She leaned on him, biting her finger.

He slowly rubbed her back more and whispered once again.

"I don't know Alice... but I refuse to leave your side until I know that you are completely safe from him. I am making that a promise, and I don't break promises."

She nodded and rested the side of her head against his chest so she could look out into the room. At least the ghost was gone now. She lightly put her fingers against her neck and winced slightly, then sighed.

Fayte then held Alice tighter as he sighed as well.

"Alice, you're safe now, alright? If that ghost ever comes back, I'll make sure to protect you no matter what. I'm not letting you leave me now. Not now, not ever."

Alice gripped his arm. "If he goes after you I'll do the same. I have the feeling he's still lurking around...he seemed angry." She laughed without humor and winced, holding her hand over her neck. She looked at her wrist; a bruise was starting to form. "Very angry."

Fayte nodded very softly, as to not disturb her.

"I know very well the danger I have put myself in. I really don't mind anymore. All I know is that you are safe right now. That is what truly matters to me."

Alice shivered and held onto him with both hands. She closed her eyes and relaxed against him. "I feel safe with you." She murmured quietly, opening her eyes halfway. "Thank you, by the way. I'm sure he would've killed me if you didn't come in here."

Fayte smiled down at her and said,

"Don't even thank me for doing exactly what I said I would do. I said I was going to protect you no matter what, and that is exactly what I did. You are always safe with me."

Alice half smiled up at him. "I suppose. I'm still thanking you though. Get used to it." She smirked slightly and leaned away from him a bit. She kissed him on the cheek, then relaxed against him again and closed her eyes

Fayte felt his cheeks grow very red, but he kept his composure in check. He simply held her in return and replied,

"Looks like I do have to get used to it, I suppose."

 

Fayte happily stayed in her arms for a short while.

Alice fell asleep after a little while. She dreampt she was swimming in a lake with a graveyard on the shore. She dove underwater and swam for a bit. When she looked up towards the surface she saw the tall, dark figure standing on shore.

When she surfaced for air, he was gone. She slowly walked into shallow water, standing and turning in circles, positive he was still around. When she turned towards the graveyard again, he was standing a few inches infront of her.

Fayte had decided to venture back to his own room, thinking that the both of them were safe for the night. He climbed back into his bed and took his shirt off once more to get relaxed. Soon, he had fallen asleep.

Alice jumped and took a step back, the water lapping at her legs. "What do you want?"

 

The ghost snarled at her. "You." He reached for her.

 

Alice slapped his hand away and turned from him, running back into the deep water. She dived down, peeking over her shoulder to see him in the same spot. She blinked, and he was gone. She let a few air bubbles out, then saw some bubbles go past her. She looked down and saw the ghost swimming up towards her. She screamed underwater, letting most of her air out.

Fayte rolled around in his sleep, feeling as if there was a disturbance in the air. His mind stayed locked in the void of sleep, unable to escape the depths of his own mind. He could feel sweat on his body in the void, but he could not wake up.

The ghost grabbed her ankle and dragged her down into the black water. It suddenly got bright as sunlight shone down on her. She blinked and looked around; she was in a glass coffin, and the ghost was burying her alive.

 

He filled the hole halfway and jumped down onto the dirt he just shoveled and went on one of his knees. "I'll be back for you." He pulled himself out of the hole and walked away, then disappeared.

 

Alice pounded on the glass. "No! Leave him alone!" She screamed, her voice muffled by the glass and dirt. "Fayte!"

 

The ghost appeared in the dream of the sleeping boy.

Fayte could only see darkness all around him. It seemed as if it was only nighttime in the forest, but knew he wasn't alone. He simply walked along and avoided trees that were in the way. He carefully made his way around the tree's, hoping to not find a soul.

Alice pounded on the glass with her fists. "NO!" Tears were welling up in her eyes, and the glass started cracking.

 

The ghost watched him from behind a tree that he'd passed earlier, his arms crossed.

Fayte could feel that something was watching him from an unknown location, but from where he wasn't sure. He simply continued to walk through the forest until he saw a small shack in the middle of a clearing. Fayte walked up to it slowly, and saw there was a note on the door. Fayte picked it up and read it.

 

"Always follows."

The ghost's eyes flashed.

 

Alice kept smashing her hands against the glass, making it crack more.

 

The ghost started weaving inbetween the trees, his lips twitching. He ground his teeth together, moving silently.

Fayte quickly scanned the forest, fearing for his life. He began to slowly walk throughout the darkness, keeping in mind that whatever was here with him was always watching. The thought of that brought him to shivers, but he kept on moving.

Alice screamed in frustration and smashed her fist against the glass, shattering it. Glass rained down on her first, cutting her face, neck, arms, any exposed skin. Shards got stuck in her clothing and hair. Dirt started filling the broken coffin, crushing her. She started digging upward, ignoring the glass going deeper in her skin. She was focused on saving Fayte, nothing else.

 

The ghost felt the glass shatter and growled. He started moving towards the boy quickly, figuring he didn't have much time.

Fayte could hear grass splitting as he turned around to find the source. What he saw caused him to run in the other direction. The ghost from before was now shaing after him with demon like speed, and Fayte had nowhere to go.
