Does MLP's nature allow for carbon copy clones?

With the talk of a possible new gen or a reboot coming soon and what concept images we've seen looking to reuse the Mane 6, I'm left to wonder if the My Little Pony brand is meant to be reusing the same faces for reboots or consecutive generations. The thing is , with MLP, it has literally hundreds of characters that have been made for the goal of pitching toys at children. Is it wise to just continuously churn out the same 6 characters, indefinitely, with  just new gimmicks, and having them be the focus of the series and toyline, rather than introducing a new cast from the hundreds of others we have, to keep things fresh and entertaining? It's not as if the franchise is like TMNT, where it has to be limited due to how it was created- with the 4 Turtles (them being in the very name of the show) having to be focused on as the  heroes for each of its reboots. Hasbro has limitless opportunity with their mass pony army and characters.

 

Would you (or children you  might know) be on board if the same main cast of ponies represented the franchise in every gen/ reboot, going forward, indefinitely?

I wouldn't mind. It would be boring after awhile but I think they could possibly make it work.

I'm not if the exact same cast in the next series would really work out too well, but that being said there have been a number of the characters that have been recycled one or more times in subsequent generations.  Personally I'd prefer to see a whole new cast and either a significant time jump and/or a different setting.

How many similar IPs do not have classic, recognizable characters? Was their absence from MLP until FIM a design decision or a design oversight, I wonder.

I would be okay with it so long as it were consistent and handled properly. Meaning, no cost-cutting measures or doing things halfway.
