Ponies, Princesses....wouldn't it make sense to get a leg up on the competition?

Disney has a knack for selling everything Princess to little girls through their movies. Hasbro has jumped on the Princess bandwagon (although they've been doing it with the Princess Ponies, since g1 and "everyone is a Princess" schtick in g3). As their g4 fanbase grows up, wouldn't it only make sense to keep pushing the Princess agenda for as long as possible- aiming, not with children, but to adult audiences as well? There's a Japanese fashion brand called "Angelic Pretty" and one of the designers (Maki) has apparently been influenced enough by My Little Pony to create  an several pieces in their brand line around it. The entire concept of the AP brand is adorable clothes covered in lace, frills and ribbons like that of the fairytale princess you dreamed about as a little girl. We want girls to never lose sight of that dream and this is a brand for girls who want to keep that dream alive"

Hasbro has the perfect setup for it, even with the "Osharena (stylish) Ponii, from their 1985 Japanese exclusive toyline. It could easily be rebooted and aimed to an adult audience, given the theme and AP's collaboration. So shouldn't it only make sense for Hasbro to get in on this where Disney fails to, and cater to adult Princesses, by possibly, perhaps, collabing with such a brand?

there are other Princesses besides Twilight, FYI

Right, but if you can't market the princess aspect of your main character to older audiences, then how are you going to market that at all?

I think it would be a great idea to focus on an adult Princess-loving demographic. Everyone knows little girls love princesses, but there are plenty of big girls who do as well. Look at Barbie and the success Mattel has had marketing to both young and old audiences. I see no reason others couldn't capitalize on the same kind of thing. If they want to try a unique signature for such a line of merchandise, like the Angelic Pretty concept, more power to them. It looks good and would undoubtedly appeal to many collectors and fans alike.
