Twilight's friends treated like one character

Do you sometimes feel that the writers portray Twilight's friends as one character?

That's been a problem especially when all Mane Six was in the episode. The individual character doesn't stand out for what they are, the Mane Six seems like a hive minded pack, occasionally one or two interacts with Twilight as the representative of the five ponies. (It was also the biggest problem in MLP the Movie.) What differentiates the Mane Six are more of their occupations, hobbies, quirks and gimmicks, but not their personalities or values. And they introduce themselves like this early in the episode as a minimal characterization. (Fluttershy - animals, Pinkie Pie - parties, etc.)
