It was way back in 2004 or 2005. A news story about an ape escaping the zoo. I remember it showing footage of the ape and I was terrified, thinking it was gonna be coming to our house, lol.

Local house fire, happened at night in a rambler. My mom couldn't stand how the attack on the twin towers was played over and over again for days, so she banned cable news in the house for years.
