Ebony half smiled. "Perhaps you should wait until tomorrow to go to the workshop. The streets are still dangerous, especially after today. I never though a riot would happen in Canterlot.." she trailed off.

Ebony sighed. "I never thought it would happen here. I'm a bit shaken from it all, considering a few ponies are dead, but other then that I'm alright. Thank you." She smiled.

Splinter luckily got out of the crowd. ''Gods Gracious...'' Said Splinter as shrugging. He decided to roam Canterlot happily. ''Always look on the bright side of Life!'' Repeated Splinter as skipping around Canterlot.

Stonewall had been standing very close to Ebony for quite some time now, minus toiletries. He had considered that, but he had to convince himself that would do more harm than good. As they went to eat, he was still surveying the area. Somewhere in the back of his mind a small voice was yelling to get her as far away as possible. Another was preaching about safety in numbers. The voices and opinions were clamoring for his attention in a great chorus of thoughts. Finally, he had to flush all thoughts from his head in a great cleansing to allow focus to return to his conciousness. The only thought remaining against the tide was Ebony. Like a shining mountain it rose from the oceans of meditation. When he was settled, he came back to the present problem.

Running was not an option. Canterlot, despite it's current state, was probably the safest place in Equestria. Number were useless. After the pandemonium today, Stonewall doubted any number of guards could effectively guard her. It appeared that no matte what way you looked at it, Stonewall and company were her best defense. A ninja-pony, a virtual tank, and an arcanist. Well, if that trio couldn't keep her safe there wasn't much else that could. Suddenly, he was snapped from his thoughts by a glowing visage rising in front of his face. It depicted Princess Celestia, and played the national anthem of Equestria.

"Greetings my subjects, friends, family, and ponies everywhere," she said in her naturally kind tone. "Today a great tradgedy has struck all of Equestria." Then her voice turned angry and cold, quite unfitting for her face. "Foolish ponies have harmed others, and brought a full scale riot into effect in Canterlot. We greive the loss of those who are no longer with us, but there WILL be harsh reprecussions should it appear another event such as this will occur. As such, all gatherings of ten ponies or more will be dispersed unless agreed upon by your local mayor or ruler." Here the voice returned to heartfelt kindness. "As much as it pains me to do this, I only wish for the lives of everypony to be peaceful. So, please go about your day as you would have before. Thank you, and have a nice day."

Stonewall stared into the air for a second, astonished. Just like a riot, this was absolutely unheard off in Equestria. Blinking for a second, he turned to Ebony. "It appears that the Wonderbolt performance is okay. The Princess Luna will be attending, so I am somewhat sure they won't cancel it." He said this with a smile on his face, masking the dark feelings hiding underneath. Only moments later, a scroll appeared in front of them by magic. Opening it with magic, Stonewall read its contents and sighed. "It also appears that we will... be attending Bagel's funeral tomorrow. Personally invited by Inspector Coppertail."

Ebony listened to Celestia, her red eyes watching her face change as her voice did. "It must be serious...if Celestia couldn't control it when it happened.." She trailed off, looking away from the Princess. She looked over when the scroll appeared and leaned closer to Stonewall so she could read it. She sighed and nodded. "I spoke with him a few times. A good pony. He'll be missed." She said quietly, looking down.

Ebony looked out the window. Canterlot had really changed...she wondered what would've happened if Stonewall wasn't with her. She shook her head, trying to clear away the thoughts of the riot. "So, the Wonderbolts?" She said, turning back to him.

Stonewall nodded, looking sorrowfully at the scroll again before rerolling it and setting it down. Looking over at her, he smiled. "I've had too much excitement for one day honestly. After we eat, please, can we go to bed?" He said that in a joking manner, but the weariness in his eyes was evident. "As for the Wonderbolts, I've met a couple of them before. When I was training in magic school, a small detachment came to teach the pegasus students how to fly more effectively. There was a fair shair more of them back them. But... issues like the one we had to deal with air becoming more common, and many talented ponies are being drawn back to their homes." Seeing the somber mood he was establishing, he changed subjects. "You would not believe some of the tricks that I've seen them pull off. Why, one time they created a controlled tornado in a canyon, and wrote a thank you letter in the dirt, with only the wind, to my father." He smiled at the memory, looking fondly at Fine Tune and Ebony.

"Not only that, but-" he was interrupted by a scream coming from a female earthpony nearby. She was a delicate and beautiful looking creature, sporting a lightblue mane and tail, coupled with a silvery white coat. Her cutie mark was that of a wedding ring. Most would have known her by the name of Ms.Goldenheart, but to her friends she was known as Goldy. Stumbling into the room from the hallway, she clutched at her throat with one hoof while keeping herself upright with another. Dashing over, Stonewall gave her a kick to the stomache. This may have seemed cruel or harsh, but a second later a large spiked worm the size of a hotdog crawled out of her mouth, and shrieked at Stonewall. Bunching itself into a coil, it attempted to launch itself down his throat.

Thinking quickly, he closed his mouth as fast as possible, barely catching the end of the worm by his teeth. Spitting it out, he stomped on it until the wretched thing stopped moving. Breathing heavily, he sat on his hindquarters, before calling for a doctor. Moments later, a nurse and medicalpony rushed inside. The nurse briefly inspected Stonewall, but rushed to Ms.Goldenheart, as she was the more critical case. The poor pony was clenched into a ball, crying like a newborn. Stonewall thought it best to retreat and let those actually trained do the work. Half a minute later, Goldy was pronounced dead. Stonewall stood there in numb shock, staring at her body. It appeared pitiful, the way it was curled so tight it could have been a spring. He thought he had saved her. The nurse told him that he had done what any doctor would ahve done, but he was seconds late. Once again, guards cordined off the scene.

Stonewall was still sitting there numb when Inspector Coppertail appeared in the doorway. Carefully, he stepped around the body and made his way over to the table. His face, normally serious, was sorrowful indeed. "I know you blame yourself Stone," he sighed. "But I will tell you, things would be far worse had you not done what you did. Ms.Goldenheart, cliche as it is, would be glad you did the best anypony could do." Stonewall considered being angry, but all he could feel was regret. Sighing, he stood up and nodded sadly.

Ebony jumped when she heard the scream, and screamed herself when Goldy stumbled into the room. She watched Stonewall kick her and the worm shriek at Stonewall. She saw it launch itself at him, and she screamed, "No!"

She stayed where she was, frozen by panic. When the doctor's inspected her body, tears she hadn't noticed dripped from her eyes. She'd known Goldy; they used to be good friends. She closed her eyes, more tears spilling from them. She went over to Stonewall when Inspector Coppertail entered the room, and she hugged him, hiding her face in his chest, tears still running from her eyes, partially from Goldy and partially from seeing him get attacked by the creature.

Stonewall noticed Ebony walking over towards him. He didn't blame her for not doing anything. She was a princess, his princess. Protectively, he wrapped both hooves around her crying head, whispering in her ear. "Its going to be all right Ebony. I'm fine. Please, shush. I'm here now. You cry as long as you want, I'll wait." He nuzzled her gently, looking at the Inspector out of one eye with a clear message: "Not a good time." Coppertail nodded his assent and went over to the body. "I see you got your head looked at," he said to Splinter with a sigh. "We brought in a team of unicorn specialists this time. And thankfully the newsponies have a good enough heart to leave this one alone. From our early findings, it appears that a waiter set down some drink on a nearby table in the hallway. They were destined to go to your table."

"Specifically, we believe that the... Nix I believe its called, was planted in one drink, destined for either Princess Nightingale or Stonewall. Until this point, Stonewall has reported all of these attacks have targeted the Princess. But instead, we believe that they are meant specifically to attack him in a roundabout manner. Examination of Sergeant Bagel has confirmed that he died not from the stampede, but a serious of miniscule needs projected into his chest. While we could not examine Ms.Bananafloat in such a manner, we suspect something similar occured to her. As for the hoof prints... it is possible that it was meant to draw our attention elsewhere. Back to our current situation, the waiter has been questioned with magic and other methods, none of which harmed him in any way. We do not go to torture or threats to find our answers." This last comment was said with a very real truthful tone. He knew it was true to the bottom of his heart.

"So far, it appears that Goldy picked up the drink by accident, thinking it was hers. The waiter had been refilling a seperate order. We have questioned everyone down to the brewer that produced the drinks, and all have passed with stellar colors. None of them would do this to anypony. So, we have concluded that an outsider somehow planted the Nix inbetween the waiter's departure, and Ms.Goldy's arrival. That leaves about a minute and half. So, we have cordoned of the entire castle in the hopes of catching the criminal. But... I have my doubts. If he managed to slip a Nix into a drink in the middle of the entire castle, how easy would it be to escape? We can only hope for the best."

''Yeah... The roof crash was pretty tough. Though, It may be hard to escape...'' Said Splinter as cocking an eyebrow. ''At this point I may have to do something I would regret..'' Said Splinter as clenching his hoof.

Ebony held onto him. She looked up when he said that the attacks could also be aimed for Stonewall. She buried her head in his chest again, sobbing quietly. She didn't want anypony get hurt at her expense, especially Stonewall or her other friends. She held onto him tightly, tears streaming from her eyes.

Stonewall held onto her all the tighter. He gave the Inspector a glare. Both knew it was something that had to be said out loud in current company. But that didn't make the fact that Ebony was crying any better. It seemed that Ebony was going to keep crying until long after her tears ran dry. Stonewall came to a decision about himself and her at that moment. Carefully, he put both hooves on her face and forced her to look him in the eye. "Ebony, you know what I have said. Let me add to that. I promise, by everything I hold dear, there is nothing, NOTHING, that will ever take me away from you." With that said, before he took back his decision, he leaned in and kissed her.

Inspector Coppertail was speechless for a moment. In a snap, he realized what was happened and forced his and everypony's eyes into a different direction. This being done by a harsh fourth-grade glare, which few ponies on the planet can even dream of replicating. He didn't try to look at Splinter, that was going a little too far and he knew it. Once everpony's eyes were averted, he sighed to himself. His wife had shared their first kiss with him in a similar manner, many years ago. He could only hope that things would work out better for Ebony and Stonewall.

Ebony looked into his eyes. Her red eyes were still glistening with tears, she half smiled sadly when he told her that he'd never leave her. Her eyes widened slightly when he kissed her, but she closed her eyes and kissed him back.

Splinter shrugged. ''That Was.. Awkward.'' Said Splinter as his voice got went to a slightly higher pitch. ''SHIT. This is what I would regret to do.'' Said Splinter in a insane type of voice as rolling his eyes. ''Excuse me in the hallway for a minute.'' Said Splinter as running into the hallway. When he came back into the room he looked like this: Posted Image

''Soo... Your probably wondering why I'm sounding like this? If you are then I'll explain it later.'' Said Splinter as shrugging.

Inspector Coppertail looked at Splinter, as did everypony in the room and surrounding area minus Ebony and Stonewall. Taking a step back, he blinked once or twice. "Uh, son," he said with a tad of question in his voice. "Are you sure that you got that head checked all the way? I know that you're really hyped about this and all, but where did you pull that costume from?" A medical pony looked in the room and shook her head. "Don't ask!" she hissed in a agitated manner before retreating. "Anyways, go and do whatever you've got to do. Please just... don't kill anypony. I need to ask questions that need answers."

Stonewall remained in an embrace with Ebony for another moment before letting go. His head was in the clouds above Cloudsdale and his heart was racing like a drum. Looking at her face, he could hardly bare to move away from her a single inch. Only the solid will of protecting her was keeping him from going over the edge of bliss. Straining, he placed her head on his chest once more to broaden his line of sight. Everything appeared under control. Coppertail looked over and said, "Son, I promise you, there is going to be nothing, nothing getting inbetween you and her until you're well and ready. I'll make sure of that personally." Stonewall nodded his head graciously. Sighing, he rolled Nightingale on his back, like she was a small filly, and carried her to her room. Gently as a feather, he set her on the bed and climbed in to embrace her.

Artemisia had not participated in any of this conversation because she was unaccustomed to this violent and mysterious side of the world. The young 16 year old mare was frightened by the days events and even more shocked by the scandalous kiss between StoneWalll and Ebony. She moved toward them as he picked her up to carry her away "PRINCESS, but...You can't do..." She shouted after as they entered her room.

Ebony held onto him tightly the entire time. She nuzzled him when he placed her head back at his chest. She felt safe when she was in his arms. She let him pick her up and take her to her room, giving Artemisia an apologetic look before the doors closed. She held onto him when he placed her on her bed, her head pressed against his chest again, the images of what happened to Goldy replaying through her head.

Inspector Coppertail felt his jaw drop a centimeter at the sight of Ebony being carried away. But he kept his self compsure, and smiled weakly. Turning to Splinter, he looked the pony from hindhoof to nose. "No, you have not as of yet mentioned that you are specialized in that manner of weapon. Though, in all seriousness, I would not doubt that is the truth from the looks of it. Now, I am sorry, but I must get back to my job. Ms.Goldenheart's father is going to be very upset. He's a kind stallion, and I hate to tell him, but it is my duty. Go get em kid." He said this last sentence with a smile, and walked over to Artemisia. "Don't worry about your princess ma'am," he told her in an effort to let her cool down. "Stonewall loves that mare like none other. Regardless, he will be keeping his duty first, which is to protect her at any cost. As a result, nothing improper will be occuring to Ms.Nightingale. Of that I can assure you." He turned to leave, then continued. "As well, you might want to consider this. Stonewall is the third son of the fourth most powerful stallion in the world. His eldest brother recently died in battle. He doesn't know it, but that leaves him in an excellent position, no matter the result. Aswell... a Count is hardly an improper match for a Princess." With that said, he walked from the room.

Stonewall was having a hard time restraining himself. His passion was running wild through the veins of his body, threatening to burst. This, combating with his headstrong will, was putting him in a tight spot. After a moment, he managed to calm down enough to focus on Ebony. Lifting her head from his chest, he planted another kiss on her lips, nuzzling her gently. "Don't be sad," he whispered. "Just let me hold you until you fall asleep. If need be, I will stay here all night until you are resting peacefully." He ran his head along hers, humming a soothing tune from his younger days. His hooves held her tightly, not crushing her, but in a strong embrace that would take a crane to break.

Ebony nuzzled him back and relaxed against him, but she still held him tightly. She gradually fell asleep, feeling safe and secure with him holding her. He seemed to fight her nightmares off; she only had sweet dreams, despite what had happened with the riot and Goldy.
