I am a newer fan do keep that in mind,but what's the difference between hearths warming and winter wishday?

I’m not to sure but hearth’s warming eve is about the 3 tribes coming togeather and living in harmony but if most the ponies in the newer seemed to know much before the tribes split so they must do celebrate something else unless sunny tried to convince all of the ponies to celebrate but I don’t think that’s what happened. 
maybe we’ll find out more as the series goes on or in one of the books or even comics.

Oh I see,maybe they stopped celebrating Hearths warming eve after the tribes split and instead resorted to winter wishday,and it's still celebrated to this day?
