Startlight glimmer winced at the reminder, part of her did not appreciate that, but she shrugged it off, bearing a small eye roll at the stealing cutie marks part and then continuing. “ I am just afraid that you will look down upon me because I haven’t really done a lot with my life outside of my village. I mean comparatively to him and where he has gone.”

Starlight looked and kept a dazed stare at Moondancer for a second, she was incredibly moved by her words, her surge of warmth and empathy felt through her words getting to starlight. “maybe, it is worth reaching out to him in the end, Moondancer. I really appreciate you speaking to me about this, this is something I spent years thinking about, and I was honestly afraid to do, but maybe there is a chance after all.”

Twilight abruptly paused by the doorway as a thought suddenly dawned on her. "Hey, uh, Starlight? It's probably best if only Magnolia and I visit my parents. We'll part ways for now, but I hope to see you again on the train to the Crystal Empire," Twilight explained.

"You could stay with us," Minuette offered. "It sounds like you want to be friends with us, and it seems like you and Moondancer have connected quite quickly."

Moondancer blushed at that remark as Twilight left Minuette's house with Magnolia.

"And trust us, we keep up with all the latest magical research," Minuette added. 

"But I don't think that matters. When Twilight ran off to Ponyville, she became an element of harmony and became friends with the other elements there. She had changed significantly, but we were still able to reconnect based on our history together,"  Moondancer explained.

Twilight would lead the way towards her parents' house silently, not quite sure what to say or how to prepare for something as life-changing as this. It wasn't long before the pair found themselves at their intended destination. Twilight would walk up to the front door and knock before stepping back. The sound of hoofsteps inside shuffling about was heard, and after about a minute, the door opened.

"Twilight! What brings you here?" Twilight Velvet asked before noticing Moonlight. "I'm sorry, you look familiar, but I can't quite place my hoof on it... Hold on, Moonlight? Is that you? It's been so long! I didn't know if I would ever see you again. I hope you're doing ok."

"Hey Velvet, who's at the door?" Night Light asked as he walked over. 

"Twilight and Moonlight!" Velvet exclaimed as she hugged them both.

"Oh, hello Moonlight. It's been such a long time..." Night Light said to Moonlight as he would join in on the family hug.

Something about magnolia rubbed starlight glimmer the wrong way, she raised an eyebrow at her, knowing that she was judging her as much as she was judging magnolia, she decided to keep her eye on her. Something about her presence made her feel a bit defensive, of course starlight was not a saint herself, starlight felt self conscious and insecure about her own wrongdoings.

“Okay twilight, I understand and I will see you on the train to the crystal empire” She spoke affirmatively, she felt a little bad that she has not spoken in depth with twilight but she had a little bit of hope that she did not think bad of her, as much as she probably deserves it, thought starlight. She would have more to say to twilight once she saw her again. 
 

Starlight was incredibly charmed by moon dancer and minutes hospitality and friendliness, something she had not felt genuinely in a very long time, something that made her nervous and twitch, because she was used to controlling things. Although emotion pulled her to stare at both there eyes. “Honestly, I would love nothing more to be your friends- I haven’t felt loved like this in years- I just- I - um.. yeah let’s hang out and talk?” She looked like she was about to cry, but it was a good one. “I am sorry- I am not used to ponies being nice to me- I just want you guys to like me” she also gave thought to what they mentioned about sunburst.

"Yeah we love new friends, but we gotta make sure our new friends don't cause any problems with our existing friends, you see. And if you're doing things like trying to take away ponies' cutie marks or starting cults in villages, that would be problematic. So hopefully we can sort this out," Twinkleshine added.

"Of course you're welcome here; we're family!" Velvet exclaimed. "Come in, make yourself comfortable."

"Why didn't you tell me that I have an older sister?" Twilight asked as she walked inside.

"Alright then, I suppose it's time you both hear this," Velvet said as she sat down on the couch in the living room and gestured to the rest of the family to do the same. She also set down a box of tissues for when everypony inevitably cried. 

"When I had my first pregnancy, Night Light and I were still dating. Both of us were still young at the time, and neither of us were ready to have foals. We had graduated from university recently, and we were only just getting settled with our new jobs and new home here in Canterlot. It was a very difficult decision, and all of the options were bad, but we decided that putting our foal up for adoption would be the least-worst option. While we did leave information for you if you went looking for us, by the time we had Twilight and Shining Armor, we assumed that you wanted nothing to do with us," Velvet explained to Moonlight.

"To us, it didn't make sense to tell you about a sister that you would be very unlikely to meet. And so much time had passed, well, we weren't really sure how to tell you either," Night Light explained. "We're sorry we didn't tell you about this sooner. We hope you, both of you, can forgive us for this."

Hearing this caused Twilight to cry, which in turn caused Velvet and Night Light to cry as they hugged each other (and Moonlight if she joined in) and took full advantage of the tissue box next to them.

The first question stirring something complex and overwhelming in starlight, the gravity of which could be seen in the stiffness in her facial expressions. she was not used to people questioning her motives, nor showing much empathy to her actions, but some thing about the situation made starlight drop a few ounces of weight on her facial expression even though it was quite difficult answering, suddenly, it turned quite emotional as something within her broke through, a sense of humanity. “-Honestly, I feel worthless with a cutey mark, It did not matter much when it came to keeping me and Sunburst together, all my cutey mark did was highlight the difference that I had with other ponies.” Her voice, dredged with passion and pain. “ How I want to feel, is understood by some pony, I don’t quite care if ponies don’t understand why I do the things that I do, but they don’t quite understand that I do it out of love. The love that I want to feel that I’ve never got, I understand that I’ve done wrong things… but nobody has ever took the damn time to notice that I was suffering as they were changing, I took it in my own hands to control my life again.” A complicated flurry of emotions spun through her mind, sinking a heavy upset in her throat, feeling that choked her up. Tears spilling out from either side of her eyes. “ I want to ask both of you, what would you do.. if you lost someone, To make the pain go away, where would that take you?” 

Starlight shifted to pace as she paced, a pause in her speech as a smirk bounced to break some of the seriousness etched on her face. “I used to be idealistic once too, I used to think that as if we if we believed in the greater good, that somehow love could conquer all- but how good is it when it can be easily taken away from you?“ she was slowly removing a mask, she tilted her head to a new angle, to the side, shadows, casting across the right side of her cheek. “There are no good ponies any more, just villains of various degrees” that was the best she could come to directly answering the question, more of trying to justify her feelings, to get them to understand where she was, On a tall jagged cliff of emotions. “There is very little balance in this world anymore“ she then faced back at the two ponies slowly as her face cast more shadows. “If you insist trotting through life, hooves laden with hope, you will only meet one devastating heartache after another-.” shifting back a little,noticing how impassioned she had gotten. “I am sorry, I do not mean to impose on you two.”

"We'd love to care for you and be your friends. However, even if you don't want anything to do with us, at least give Twilight's university friends a chance," Velvet offered.

"So now that we understand what happened, what do you want to do? Either decision you make, my parents and I would support you here," Twilight asked Moonlight

Something zapped right through starlight like a bolt of stimulus, she wasn’t sure if she was angry or just excited, but something about that comment stirred some thing inside of her, like she knew exactly where she was getting at.

For my whole life, there was nothing I could do that would help me avoid suffering .” She then Pauses politely for a second to listen her out, then continues with her response. “ I do admit I really like the companionship that you all have together, you have special talents that complement each other and I can understand that. Being that I have always been alone, not gonna lie, I wanted to benefit myself to have those type of relationships- “ A pinch of laughter coming into starlights good graces, finding Lyra to be very charming, “Heh, Lyra you like hands don’t you? I know a spell that could tickle you with fingers~

“I also can relate with you moondancer, I haven’t been much for conversation myself but thinking and studying brings such a rich inner world of knowledge and understanding, I can tell that you’re very smart, and honestly a sensitive person.”

starlight was getting lost in what is a very pleasant moment of observation. “ Oh and minuette don’t even start on time spells.. I’ve been collecting a few scrolls myself heh- I mean studying!”

Starlight stared at them longingly, a gleam catching her eye, seeing the affection and friendship that she had long for for so long, she really wanted to be a part of that and it felt good to hear Moondancer speak about her feelings and it sounded so much similar to her own experience, but they had gone into separate parts. “I uh, I noticed that we have that in common with our stories, you handle it and that completely are for ways that I did, although I think I have to be the one to take the chance to see some burst again. I would be willing to rethink some of my uhh- habits to be part of your friend circle.

starlight nodded at minuets words,The meaning of her sentence sinking in for her. “yeah, twilight grew and accepted changes as a natural part progressing, she embraced magic, and friends, and to be a part of that. I am not that far gone to realize that,buta big part of me doesn’t know where to start and again I’m just scared, I need somebody to teach me friendship again because my version is completely different in your guys definition”

Starlight looked down, the weight of those wordstaking gravity through her as she thought in her mind, it would be hard to drop old habits, but she knew that is what she wanted to do, she wanted to be friends with them more than anything, she wanted to be accepted and loved, and not only by them, but by herself. She looked back at Lyra with an araof seriousness, her lips staying firm together. “Okay, yes, I’m willing to go aside that attitude, I’m willing to make a change and stop hurting ponies,stop hurting myself with the ideology I had. This is gonna be hard for me to turn a new leaf, but I want to I want to change and show you guys that I can be a great friend that I love and appreciate you, I just struggle so long with war to be accepted by ponies,so if you can accept my promise to change my ways, I know that I am in good hands to be vulnerable around you and accept friendship for what it is, genuine love.”

starlight climber reached out with her hoove,this was her chance at redemption, she wanted this her whole life. It was a stretch. Maybe she could change overnight, but she was willing to be on the path to redemption. “please, if there’s anyway that I could show you that I am genuine and that I am willing to make changes, I will do, what you want me to do to prove that I’m serious about turning a new leaf and being a genuine friend”

"We're just trying to understand where your relationship with Sunburst and the village you're currently leading is in order to know you as a friend," Lemon Hearts explained. "And with an understanding of the values of friendship, you can determine what you want your relationship to be with those ponies moving forward and how to achieve it."

The rest of the group nodded in agreement. 

With the mood of the room significantly lighter, the group of unicorns switched to discussing magic. They would ask Starlight what kinds of hand spells and time spells she was thinking about, in addition to asking her to go into depth about how she uses them.

"What kind of hand/time spells?" Lyra and Minuette would ask, respectively.

At least she was willing to give them a chance. It was something she never thought she would be able to do personally - but she wanted to give them a chance. No use in further hurting or pain here, if it could be helped. "We are family." Magnolia would add, which suggested she considered friends and family two different things. 

Twilight, upon hearing this reply, would smile as she started tearing up again. Once again, the family was pulled into a hug as they cried together. 

After several minutes of letting their tears and emotions out, Night Light would dry his eyes before asking, "Ok, I'm so glad you've given us a chance. I suppose this is when we try to figure out what our relationship should be. For example, do you want us to call you Moonlight? Should we refer to you as our child? What should we know about you?" Night Light asked.

"Feel free to answer or add whatever you feel comfortable talking about. And you're free to change your mind about any of this later. I know this has been a day of major and unexpected change for all of us," Velvet added.

Starlight glimmer took a big breath, her chest rising, and then waning with a heavy exhale. “ I suppose-, well, yeah you’re right.- that is exactly the reason. With the mood of the room significantly lighter, the group of unicorns switched to discussing magic. They would ask Starlight what kinds of hand spells and time spells she was thinking about, in addition to asking her to go into depth about how she uses them.

"What kind of hand/time spells?" Lyra and Minuette would ask, respectively.

“OK, I promise you Lyra I’m going to do my best to change, I want to change and I desire to have real friendships, in my heart I do genuinely love.”

Starlight put her hoof to her chin to think “ well, our town is sustainable on its own, I know the hard-working folks can sustain their own community, and I still care for them, I can arrange that a new leadership is headed by some pony else, so that way I can be here in canter lot more often, but still be able to visit the village. I still have love for my village.”

” as for sunburst, I’m not sure what to do next, I think I might need some advice on how to handle that, I do want to see him. I do want to talk to him, but there’s just a lot of doubt in my head about if he would be cool with it, you know.. us meeting after not talking for a while “

Parts, smarty Pants and part business, she was right in her element. “ Well, I don’t want to toot my horn or anything, but I know my way around some hand magic, you see I use some high level levitation magic with A particularly pretty magic spell allows me to alter the gravity within an open space, basically I can make The illusions of a set of hands by levitating air in the form of hands caused by the glow of my magic, it’s simple really but complex to master, so that I can use the gravity of air and levitation to lift things, the air being a ripple effect, an illusion of weight, but really the levitation spell does all the work ” starlight glimmer than did a magical spell of the small blue fist rubbing up against her chest like she accomplished something great in a funny manner. "I'm a consultant that offers advice to any individual or organization in Canterlot involving the use of specific magic. If there's a specific task that needs to be done involving magic they aren't familiar with, I offer them advice," Twilight Velvet explained. "I'm also a part-time writer."

"Oh, and we can't forget about your brother Shining Armor. He's Captain of the Royal Guard here in Canterlot. While he's Twilight's older brother, he would be your younger brother. He loves defending other ponies and just like how Twilight always knew she wanted to be a part of Celestia's school for magic, Shining Armor knew he wanted to be a part of the Royal Guard. So that's a bit about us as a family," Night Light added.

"Well the butterfly effect is the idea that a tiny change in the past could result in a huge change in the present. For example, let's just say that a unicorn decides to go into the past and prevent her enemy, who she believes stole her cutie marks, from getting her cutie mark. To do this, she ends up blasting a pegasus with magic to throw her off course during a race. The unicorn achieves what she wants and nopony gets their cutie marks that day. However, the pegasi observing the race notice this attack by the unicorn, and there is a search of Cloudsdale for this unicorn. However, this unicorn never turns up in Cloudsdale. Instead, after broadening their search, they find a unicorn that almost fits the bill in Canterlot. The unicorn is brought to court in Cloudsdale and is found guilty. However, since this unicorn isn't the time-traveling unicorn, the unicorns think the pegasi started a witch hunt. Meanwhile, the pegasi despise the unicorns for attacking them out of nowhere and think the unicorns are hiding something. In turn, the unicorns think the pegasi are hiding something and starting conspiracy theories and such, and next thing you know, the time-traveling unicorn returns to the present, there is an all-out war between the unicorns and the pegasi." Minuette explained.

" But clearly, you wouldn't do that, right? I mean, cutie marks for cutie marks is just petty," Minuette said nonchalantly.

"As for how long I've been working at the university, two years. Six years if you include the time I worked in graduate school," Minuette remarked.

Feather started to float up into the air, whizzing down into a flutter and seemingly floating in different directions, seemingly with whatever gust, the wind that carries edge, the sound of pillows clapping together, and creating a flurry of feathers was rather endearing, starlight had no frame of reference for this, all she could think of is pure joy. “ oh my God, Lyra, why are you so freaking agile?! “ starlight sputtered out as she was trying to keep up with Lyras agility, She could see the glow of Yellow magic, much of which reflected in starlight glimmer eyes. “ oh I could go all night Miss head and shoulder, knees and HANDS!”

In turn, the unicorns think the pegasi are hiding something and starting conspiracy theories and such, and next thing you know, the time-traveling unicorn returns to the present, there is an all-out war between the unicorns and the pegasi." Minuette explained.

" But clearly, you wouldn't do that, right? I mean, cutie marks for cutie marks is just petty," Minuette said nonchalantly.

"As for how long I've been working at the university, two years. Six years if you include the time I worked in graduate school," Minuette remarked.

Starlight experiences an odd déjà vu at the suggestion, she blinked her eyes a few times and straightened up as a wobbly smile appeared on her face. “oddly this gives me some crazy déjà vu vibes, weird. Hahaha.”- “but, yeah, in all seriousness, I do grasp a concept that you are bringing to me, actions have consequences and they can reverberate across time, think maybe an act revenge done upon somebody in time travel alters more than just the pony that you are angry with, but it completely puts the whole world in Jeopardy. Like imagine if one pony’s friendship was the bedrock of stability of a the entire kingdom?! Makes me think that, that kingdom was never really stable to begin with and maybe there is a reason in the fragility of time and space.”

"And I've always lived in Canterlot, but outside of my job, I don't really interact with the most snobby of the Canterlot aristocrats. I've got my own social circle of ponies here in Canterlot who share my interests," Velvet explained. 

"Yeah it turns out those aristocrats aren't into going over waterfalls in barrels," Night Light joked, which got an eye roll from Twilight Sparkle.

"If you want to talk to somepony who knows about this, I would suggest Lyra Heartstrings. She knows a lot about this," Twilight explained. "And speaking of my friends, I would add that not all Canterlot aristocrats are like this. Minuette, Twinkleshine, and Lemon Hearts are part of the Canterlot aristocracy, and they couldn't care less about this hierarchy. I'm sure you noticed how extravagant Minuette's house was. However, as you can see, not all of Canterlot is so snobby."

Starlight Glimmer was really enamored with how sassy and tricky Lyra was being, A rosy coloured deepening within her cheeks and a Smirk as big as her face will allow. This sort of calculation inspired her, She loved the challenge but she started to admire Lyra on a personal level For how clever she was, Picking up on the fact that she was Picking up on her movements. "Oh a little cocky now are we~ I like that alot!" Twilight used Magnolia's silence to hug her and the rest of her family again. While they still had many things to work out, she was glad Magnolia was able to reconnect with her family, and right now, nothing felt more right than that.

Lyra was initially caught off guard by Starlight's teleportation, and for a little bit, Starlight had the upper hoof. However, Lyra also had several magic spells up her sleeve to use. "Oh yeah? How about this?!" Lyra exclaimed as her horn ignited with another series of spells.

After what felt like forever, Lyra panted, "I definitely beat you there," as the dust settled down from their squirmish. If she was honest with herself, she kind of lost track of time. She also wasn't completely sure if she had beaten Starlight in a tickle fight. Usually, the winner was more clear whenever she did things like this. (It was almost always her.)

"Alright, that's enough of that," Minuette said as she magically put the feathers back into the pillows from before. And just like that, the extravagant living room was returned to how it was before the squirmish. Even the pillows were spotless. "It was nice meeting you. See you at the train station tomorrow?"

 

If Starlight didn't have anything else to say, the group would meet up again at the Canterlot Train Station. The sleeper train, along with Minuette, Twinkleshine, and Lemon Hearts would already be at the station when Lyra and Moondancer would arrive. "So, are we all ready to go?" Moondancer would ask everypony else.

start like glimmer beamed with such a devilish allure of confidence and outright giggles, leaning her head to engage with the conversation along with lemon heart "Oooh juicy! Details, ladies, details!" a warm and profound intimacy, grabbed hold of her, she looked back at Lyra. "Okay, I can do that, but you know... I wouldn’t mind listening heh" The joy of the moment being sort of a distraction for her anxiety about meeting Sunburst, but she was off toward the right hoof. "all right, what time did we want to meet by the train station?" She was dead set now.

when the dust settled from the fried, pillows and furniture, which twisted up like pretzels on the floor, it was absolutely hilarious, not a picture was straight on the wall in the rug was completely rolled up, Minette had worked her magic, making everything spotless, and guiding us towards our intended purpose.

 The next day at the train station, starlight had arrived on the edge of the wooden platform, she looked to the side and saw a bunch of them gathered off near the train, she could see smoke billowing from the stack of one of the trains, that looks like the one to the crystal empire, as she approached she could smell the distance, the concession stand and other pony and fillies walking by.

As Moondancer asked, it was quite straightforward, starlight arrived last and responded with a quick panted "Yes!" Like she was refilling her lungs after draining them from the strenuous walk, they started to roll on in into the interior of the train, she followed behind move dancer as we gathered into our personalized cabin, this part was going to be interesting, the train ride there.

"Say, shouldn't Twilight be here? She's almost always punctual, especially with things like this," Twinkleshine remarked. "Oh there she is."

The group turned to watch a purple unicorn gallop down the platform, her luggage levitating in the air behind her. "I'm so sorry everypony. I know I agreed to go with you all to the Crystal Empire together, but I just got carried away at my parents' house with Magnolia and everything," Twilight explained as she tried to catch her breath. 

"Well let's board the train before it leaves all of us behind!" Twinkleshine replied. The remaining unicorns nodded as they levitated their luggage onto the train.

Once onboard the train, Lemon Hearts led the unicorns to their own train car. The train car was extravagantly decorated and had plenty of space for the seven unicorns to spread out and get comfortable. "Ta-da! What do you think? One of the perks of being a Canterlot aristocrat," Lemon Hearts exclaimed. The rest of the group would immediately stow their luggage away before spreading out and lounging on the couches and beds while snacking on the refreshments provided. With a sudden jolt, the train was on its way towards the Crystal Empire.

"The cool thing about a sleeper train is that they serve dinner, we go to sleep, and when we wake up, we're in the Crystal Empire," Lemon Hearts explained as she got comfortable. 

"Trust me, I was just as surprised when I found out my university friends are all aristocrats," Moondancer whispered to Starlight.

Starlight glimmers eyebrows shot upward so hard they could’ve swore that her eyebrows left her face, she was very surprised to see twilight sparkle again, a deep amount of interest illuminating her face into a deep glow of fascination. “ oh twilight it is very good to see you again! What happened at your parents house?” She spoke as she got in line with the girls as they got onto the train one after the other, the door being shut behind them by the staff, as the train started to prepare to takeoff, A burst of steam could be here rushing through the smokestack as the wheels on the track started to spin the train forward, it felt like the whole gang was here now. starlight glimmer was escorted to her her own train car as she looked around and saw the beautiful embellishments in her door alone. “Wow.. I never saw such a beautiful door in my life lol.” She caught a glimpse of the lemon heart and smiled at her rather cheekily in humour. Starlight was rather relieved to hear that food would be provided on their trip, she was almost foaming at the mouth at the thought of eating. “ oh what a relief I am so freaking starving.” in speaking with Moondancer, starlight glimmers eyebrows, bounced up and down charismatically. “ aristocrats you say. I just imagined a bunch of fancy ponies in Ancient Ponetorian clothing haha”

The other unicorns would also swing into action, setting up a table for all of them to eat at and laying out what seemed like a dozen utensils in front of each seat. Once everything was set up, the unicorns would take turns serving everypony else through each of the different courses. 

"So, what are some of your interests, Starlight? Is there anything interesting you're looking forward to doing in the Crystal Empire other than reconnecting with Sunburst?" Twinkleshine asked.

Starlight respectfully took note of twilights reaction and decided to respond only with a gentle nod, retracting a little bit from her question, she pivoted something else. Starlight smiled loosely. “ well I’m glad to see you again, your friends certainly seem to miss you and I’m just glad to -get to know you a little bit more”

At the delightful sound of “dinners ready!” stirred up a thunderous rumbling inside starlights stomach, she could not leap from her chair, fast enough, she was so hungry she could eat a tree. She then got her place at the table and found a sweet amount of excitement seeing the food served out onto plates. “ before we eat, lyra make sure the wash your hands!” She just had to say that, an amusement swelling up her cheeks.

” Oh my god well, since you asked. I am, uh kinda are- uh, like crazy into kites. Like, last summer I spent countless nights trying to soar higher in the sky, getting my wind ratios just right so I could soar it past the clouds! I love collecting them too, I probably 75 different models of kites…” her eye twitching “ I am also super passionate about my plant, his name is Phylis!” Starlight talked with deep passion swirling in her.

Starlight beamed with a proudly thoughtful expression on her face, she really liked that question from twinkle shine. “ well, I kind of fell in love with Phyl one day, he was just a small little guy when I found him near my hometown, I looked him in his adorable eyes, and I just knew that we were meant to be with each other, his little floppy stems and the way he smiles at me with his leaves. it really captures my imagination and honestly, he was my only friend during some rough periods in my life. And as for kiting! Oh boy, it’s a hobby that I’ve always kind of known, and when I started to fly kites for the first time, I love how free it feels to fly some thing in the air, there are no boundaries or restrictions to what you can do when given the space, I feel like sometimes they can go so high that I could go to the moon with it. I found it to be a hobby that I’m really good at, it’s very technical and involves a lot of statistics, but after a while, it’s just muscle memory and you can do any trick you want in your mind with such a simple ease. Flying makes me feel like I’m free for my troubles, it was one of the only things I felt like I had some control of a very vulnerable point in my life..”
