Does anyone else feel like Trixie should've been Twilight's student?

I've been revisiting the 2nd half of the show recently and I eventually had to rewatch one of my least favourite episodes 'No Second Prances'. This rewatch got me thinking that Trixie would've been a better fit as Twilight's student.

The personality differences between Trixie and Twilight (and the rest of the main cast), along with Trixie's lack of magical ability would've made for more interesting dynamic and greater challenge for Twilight as a teacher. As No Second Prances states, stage magic is something that Trixie has that is unique to her and something Twilight is not interested in. In contrast, Starlight's primary trait is being exceptional with actual magic which Twilight already has. Her secondary trait is leadership also covered by Twilight.

I think Starlight should've remained a villain. As a protagonist, she's redundant and poorly characterised (in comparison to the Mane 6) whereas her traits were fine when she functioned as an evil Twilight.

Yes!

For example, making "Testing Testing 1, 2, 3" about Twilight teaching Trixie instead of Rainbow Dash would have made more sense

because Trixie "doesn't care"/is unfocused about what Twilight Sparkle has to say would have made more sense than Rainbow Dash, IMO.

Wait...That was Trixie and Starlight Glimmer in "All Bottled Up".

I'm not sure about it, but I can say for sure that Trixie's character is kinda problematic for that role. Trixie was made to be a minor antagonist, showing up in one "normal" episode and then another "normal episode" 2 Seasons later, she was the classic "villajn of the week", even though she had major roles in some of the episode with Starlight, she was never supposed to be a important character in the series in general, while Starlight was the opposite, she was the major villain in four "Main Story" Episodes, she was made to be a important character, she was made to be a deuteragonist (she's kinda the Vegeta of MLP), Trixie is a minor character, she's no different from characters like Zecora or Thorax, they can play important roles in some of the main stories (like Zecora did in the beginning of Season 4 or Thorax in the ending of Season 6) but they were never meant to have big character arcs with strong protagonism.

Starlight is pretty much FiM's version of Sunset Shimmer (and Sunset Shimmer is EQG's version of Starlight in vice-versa), Sunset Shimmer was made to be a important character from the beginning qnd then she became the deuteragonist, then they later had to repeat that formula with Sci-Twi because Sunset Shimmer became the protagonist of EQG (at least as far as I've seen)

For Trixie to be Twilight's Student instead of Starlight, her character arc and introduction would need to be completely different from what we saw, with 2 or 4 main story episodes made for her just like Starlight got, such role wouldn't work for a minor character. But I could be wrong, but I at least don't remember any character in the show that was introduced as a minor character and then later got a recurring major role, maybe only Cozy Glow (was introduced in a normal episode)
