Bencass 28 March 7 Share March 7 Instead of changing nationality, some people create their own small 'country', and that is called a 'micronation'. Sometimes I didn't like the country I live in, so I thought about emigrating. But I'm young and not that rich, so I thought it would be difficult to emigrate. So one day I declared my home as the 'Principality of Freeland'. Hehe... Have you ever tried creating your own little 'country' and gathering its inhabitants?
abronymouse 6,142 March 7 Share March 7 when I was a kid I made my own lil world :3 but I've never thought of myself as living anywhere else but in my country 1 "For the people... their freedom consists in having of government those laws by which their life and their goods may be most their own." ~ Charles I
Envy 6,363 March 7 Share March 7 Never thought of that specifically as it just isn't practical. But I do like to dream of a country that consists of New England states. I'm far from the first person to ever think of it, though. Either way I consider myself a member of my region and state before I do the country. I have very little pride or faith left in my depraved, stupid country. 2 Everything needs more woodwind!

Crypty Scribbles 6,367 March 13 Share March 13 I haven't. But being a kid I had thought about creating a clan like in medieval Japan or noble house like in medieval Europe or certain fantasy books =] For people united by caring about each other and reaching common goals to prosper. With heraldic symbols and aristocratic inner traditions. OHOLOL! Now it sounds like a secret society.

ComanderZhabikKlavik 4,395 March 15 Share March 15 When I was a child, I came up with not only my own country, but also an imaginary world. This world is called the "Universe of Worlds" where all the worlds are. I then became the ruler of a country called Garry's Mod, I even made a flag. I also came up with the idea that the world we are in now is a matrix created on a computer, and I accidentally got here, and when the body in the matrix dies, I will return to the Universe of Worlds again. In the Universe of Worlds, I was a Superbeing of the God class. I am still the ruler of my country, by the way, Garry's Mod includes Equestria and all the other countries in MLP. I would like my fictional world to exist and everything I came up with to be real. Or maybe my fictional world exists? The creator of the Matrix lives in my country and we are best friends with him. 1 T-90 tank
Dreambiscuit 11,126 April 6 Share April 6 I haven’t created my own country, but I have created, so to speak, an alternate world. It’s very detailed and populated by many wonderful inhabitants that defy description. I’m not the ruler of this world but just a happy inhabitant, and it’s been a major part of my life for many years. I also create small places within this (‘real’) world, in my imagination and even on paper, that represent my own idealized versions of things that are real but have become less desirable than they should be. So I have my own worlds and places, if not specifically ‘countries.’

Iforgotmybrain 6,913 April 26 Share April 26 I don’t think I’ve ever fully written a completely unique country before. Usually my stories are set in something akin to our world and countries or in already developed fantasy countries like Equestria. I like world building, just not enough to go all the way and create an entirely new country with its own culture, language, customs, all that. I much prefer writing characters over world building. Now if we’re talking something like making a whole new country in the current state of the world, I’ve always been attracted to the idea of the Great Lake states and provinces becoming their own full fledged country. Kaiserreich, a mod for HOI4 where Germany won the First World War, has this to an extent. As the Second American Civil War in that mod has the entirety of the Great Lakes declaring independence and becoming their own country.

Night Sky 848 July 12 Share July 12 Not a country. But as I got ready to graduate college, I had my eye on a property that had a decent sized cave on it. I also had my eye on a group of friends, and it was kind of an off grid, art commune kind of idea, before going off grid really arrived on the internet. Of course the idea is nothing new, but it seemed radical and dope at the time, at least to me. All my friends told me that 1.) I was dreaming and 2.) that if they had to live together, they'd tear each other too pieces. So I got all pouty for a few years about the matter, I felt stung. I didn't act nasty about it, but it took a foolishly long time for me to internally process the fact that it's never gonna happen. There's a game I've played since high school that features a level with an inhabited cave system, that had a lot to do with it. There was also the idea that we're not gonna be students anymore so as adults we're gonna go our own way and change everything. Ha. Ah ha ha. Depending on your age, my bitter laughter may or may not sit well with you. But if it doesn't, try doing something like this or wait ten years and reevaluate. Countries that already exist don't like new countries being founded. A new country has to come from somewhere, and us humans live everywhere on this planet that it's practicable to live. Most of those areas are owned by countries... FRIENDSHIP FINDS A WAY
Clawdeen 20,007 July 12 Share July 12 Yes and I ruled it. The entire country in a massive castle where I am waited on hand and foot by my attractive staff.
