Yeah. That was unexpected too. Also the fact that Sophie enchanted the Howl's clothes to break more hearts. Awkward!

Him being from earth was unexpected but it didn't bother me much. Yeah, he's immature but I can relate. 

Sophie magics stuff without meaning to and she helped to make Howl worse without meaning to.

Yeah, I was rereading the chapters every week but I'm way behind. I'll catch up in a day or two.

Yeah, I don't read fast but I reas a lot.

 

For a book this short I think a month should be plenty.

I'll admit, I lost the motivation to continue reading by chapter 10-11 since it didn't seem like much was going on in this club. I can continue if you all really want me to, though.

Online book clubs tend to be like that. I don't know about IRL. Just say anything you thought about what you read.

 

I thought it was funny when Sophie used the fairy tale trope about Howl marrying the king's daughter and it turns out she's one year old. 

And we have one of my pet peeves in fiction: somebody catches a cold by being out in the rain.

BY the end of chapter 18 you have all the clues about the contract.

Rereading the last few chapters was great because there's so much going on. It's a lot like the ending of a lot of fairy tales.

I haven't had much luck with IRL book clubs either 

That does sound funny!

Yeah, they're a cool little family. And Sophie's reunited with her actual family by the end. Howl can be obnoxious and self centered but he's a pretty good guy.
