Quillhelm’s eyes darted back and forth as Pencil and Wind poked at each other’s snouts like squabbling foals. He leaned back slightly, trying to stay out of it—until Pencil suddenly booped him right on the nose.

 

He blinked,

“…Shouldn’t have stuck my nose where it didn’t belong.”

Quillhelm glanced at group, then at the distant tracks, then back again. His face stayed perfectly flat, but his tone carried that faint edge of sarcasm.

 

“Well, good news. There’s a train coming. Bad news… we’re supposed to be on it.”

 

He stood, brushing crumbs off his coat, and gestured vaguely toward the tracks.

“So unless one of you’s hiding wings big enough for all of us, I suggest we do the revolutionary thing… called running.”

He nodded, scooped everyone here up, and soared towards the train.

He gave Viola’s back a casual tap with his hoof. He shot Viola a flat look.

Everyone was aboard the train now, busy with greetings and introductions. Quillhelm, meanwhile, was still processing the fact that he’d been hauled onto the carriage by a giant bird. He shook his head, then glanced over at the newcomers with a mix of suspicion and curiosity.

Turtle Dove studied Quillhelm with the same level of confusion and curiosity. He's the one that wanted to get on the train so badly, so why was he upset about that? Maybe Turtle just swooping in like a superhero threw him off.

Pencil galloped over and gave him a big hug! Turtle returned a less-intense one back, since otherwise he'd crush the little pony!

"Good to see you, too, Pencil!"
