FALCON PUNCH 244 June 19, 2012 Share June 19, 2012 I know I was not around when the chat room was on the forums but recently (today) there have been a few people "protesting" to get the chat rooms back.If the mods and admins say no then just go with it! Bronium 512 June 19, 2012 Share June 19, 2012 I was literally just about to ask this. Just for clarifications was the original chatroom a whole community in one chat room maybe with lobbies of sorts? Or were there private chatrooms? This one is a tad less creepy. Wouldn't you agree?
Cadence Sparkle 102 June 19, 2012 Share June 19, 2012 it was one huge chatroom and was total chaos and impossible to moderate (or at the very least, very hard to moderate) Sunshine, Sunshine ladybugs awake, clap your hooves and do a little shake! - Princess Cadence and Twilight Sparkle

Marcato 2,143 June 19, 2012 Share June 19, 2012 The chatroom was a little place where meaningless discussion took place. It's original intent was to chat about MLP:FiM with your fellow forum members in this community. It worked as a place where people could just open up after they got five posts, and enjoy friendly conversation. Unfortunately conversation did not always remain friendly. The discussions ended up becoming filled with spam and useless random roleplaying and chattering. This ranged from arguments, to people spamming youtube links and other links to advertise or just not even take part in conversation and just show people things, when you can just as easily do this in status updates. The moderators had a difficult time moderating it, and when they weren't online to watch it, the logs were a pain to look through and difficult to use properly. The system for IPS chat isn't very welled designed, so it has many bugs and issues in it including scrolling as one of the most common ones. All in all it was a stressful thing for the moderators to deal with so they decided to remove it. Many people just left the chatroom running and didn't even respond when people attempted to talk to them, meaning they would just idle uselessly. Finally, the chatroom was given multiple chances to recover from it's brokenness. After countless warnings they finally closed it after people refused to listen and understand what and why that chatroom was so chaotic. Hopefully that gives you a better idea of it? OH yes and here's a screenie of the chatroom from one of Feld0's other websites to give you an idea of what it looks like: 2 ~Relax and enJOY life. Bronium 512 June 19, 2012 Share June 19, 2012 Snip Thanks, this actually cleared up a bit. But I presume the IP board is unable to provide any private chat rooms between like 2 users? This one is a tad less creepy. Wouldn't you agree?

There was something like this built INTO the chatroom itself. You could click on a users name and start a private chat with them. Unfortunately if there is no chatroom at all you can't do this either. ~Relax and enJOY life. Bronium 512 June 19, 2012 Share June 19, 2012 That's a shame. I guess I'm restricted to skype and PMs then. Still, great website so I'm not going to complain. This one is a tad less creepy. Wouldn't you agree?
Tom 891 June 19, 2012 Share June 19, 2012 (edited) Oops, I think it's my fault. I mentioned that the chat was dead in a status update. I was referring to the Skype chat. I posted it to get some people into the Sykpe chat, so sorry about what has happened. Edited June 19, 2012 by Tomzoid the EggDroid I'd like to thank the MLP Vector Club for the images used in my avatar.
