But she saw her move to the den and her ears went flat against her face. "I guess, not today then" she meow to her self. * * * Sandpaw, got up on her achy paws. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Foxpaw. Taking a deep breath, she trotted over to her. "Hello little one. Ready for some training?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Muddpaw nodded shyly. "I did. Just today. Lionclaw said he was gonna tell Spottedstar!" She meowed proudly, puffing her chest out. Aureity 3,055 June 21, 2012 Share June 21, 2012 Hawkstar sneaked silently through the bushes as the apprentices followed after him, pausing only to hiss to Mudpaw to "keep it down" after Mudpaw blundered right into a thorny bush and yelped loudly enough to send a flock of birds flying. The small hunting party mostly-silently made its way through the densely packed forest, catching prey as they went, with Hawkstar keeping a close eye on Mudpaw and Sunpaw - after all, they really needed the improvement. He was glad, at least, that Ashpaw had shown some promise, even if he was the most insolent apprentice Hawkstar had ever seen. (Not sure what to do at this point. He tensed his hind legs and unsheathed his long claws, leaping forward. The shrew didn't know what hit it before his hung limp in his jaws. He looked up proudly at his mentor. "Maybe I pushed you three a little too hard. Sorry to all of you, I just wanted to make sure the clan got enough to eat." Mudpaw and Sunpaw sat up instantly, ears perked. "So we can stop now?" they both asked simultaneously. Hawkstar gave a wry smile. "Yes. Walk back to camp, and collect your prey on the way." The two instantly sank to the ground with a groan. Well, that's a skill all apprentices will have to learn if they're going to be warriors." "Hurry up," he added to Mudpaw and Sunpaw, as they struggled to keep up. "If you two struggle this much on a single hunt, you're not going to make very good warriors." A half-hour later the familiar scent of the Shadowclan camp greeted them as Hawkstar padded into the clearing with a mouthful of fresh-kill. "Elders, nursing queens, kits, and the badly hurt get first priority," he said to the three apprentices as he headed for the center. Strong Hooves 289 June 21, 2012 Share June 21, 2012 (edited) Cheetahpaw beamed with pride, "Yes Spottedstar!" he newer happily, taking the mouse and shrew and padding back to the camp. He added the shrew to the fresh kill pile, then took the mouse as well as a rather large rabbit to the elders to share. He dropped the rabbit off and happily greeted the elders before heading back off again to bring food to the queens and other cats, a bounce in his stride. Today was a good day, and he was enjoying it as usual. He grabbed his shrew once more and went to look for one of his apprentice friends to eat with. Laying in her bed she start to groom her self. *** Sandpaw see a plump pigeon grabbing that she padded back to the tree stump near the apprentices den.
