private Door to Vehiculia (Part 1)

Rip Tide remains silent as the medic ponies heal Twilight Sparkle, despite being accused as the "shadow figure", not saying a word or even trying to leave the library, knowing that he would be tackled again by Fluttershy, as he can only watch on what was going on.

"Hey," Fluttershy complained, seeing Rip Tide ignoring her. "I'm talking to you. Answer, please...if...if you don't mind," she added hastily.

 

Applejack, meanwhile, was helping a disorientated Rainbow Dash to her hooves, as both continued shooting concerned looks at Twilight Sparkle, whose blood was now being cleaned up by Nurse RedHeart.

 

A medic pony came hurrying down the stairs, carrying the limp form of a familar purple dragon. "We found this dragon out cold, probably drugged with chloroform," he muttered to one of the idling doctors, who immediately reached into his bag to dig out an antidote.

Rip Tide sighs "...its a book my friend found. it's about an alternate dimension of Equestria, known as Vehiculia. It's like Equestria, except they have wheels instead of hooves. Normally, I'm not a big book-reader myself, but that's all there is to it so far, I guess. Techie's snoozing at the moment, so I don't wanna disturb him... I guess." he sighs again, as he keeps thinking of what would Techie say ti him the next day.

"Oh Celestia, not that again," groaned Dash, flopping to the ground. "That weird racing car thing..." She and Applejack both rolled theirs eyes, but got to their hooves a few moments later as the medical pony carrying Spike passed them by, their faces full of concern.

 

Fluttershy looked confused. "But what does t-that have to do with the shadow? If you don't mind me asking," she added.

Rip Tide sighed again, but keeping himself calm, "He stole the book. And who knows when that thing can do no good to that alternate dimension. Heck, it'll probably affect Equestria too, who knows." Rip Tide replies Fluttershy's question."

Fluttershy blinked. "Oh, that's horrible," she said, not seeming particularly upset. After all, how was she supposed to react to something that she hadn't even known had existed until a few moments prior? "Maybe we should tell Princess Celestia about it..."

 

Her weak train of thought was instantly derailed as a few medics passed by, carryig the limp form of Twilight Sparkle. Instantly Fluttershy was out the door, quickly yelling something about medicines and herbs.

As he watches Fluttershy leave, Rip Tide makes himself scarce as he flies off from the library, not sure on whether to return to Cloudsdale and rest for today, or head to Canterlot to warn Techie, at the cost of receiving the most severe punishment, much akin to Celestia's punishments. He decides to fly over to Canterlot where he arrives at Techie's home, still sleeping. He knock at the door nervously. "T-Techie? You there, buddy?" Rip Tide asks, hoping Techie is awake.

 

Techie, who is sleeping, suddenly hears an unexpected knock from the door, "ugh... can't a colt gget some sleep...?!" Techie sighs, as he walks over to answer the door. "Who is-- oh... what are you doing here at this time, Rip Tide? Its a quarter past midnight, you know." he said, having a slight cranky expression. "I know, listen; your book got stolen from that... 'shadow figure' and he harmed two ponies, Rainbow Dash, and that purple pony, and he's using you book for evil! Evil I tell you!" Rip Tide finishes explaining to his childhood friend, as Techie's expression went from cranky, to angry. "...you didn't guard my book properly, and have somepony steal my book for nefarious purposes, didn't you?" Techie snorts with anger and frustration. "We're gonna have to explain everything tomorrow morning from your book-guarding gone wrong, but for now, you're gonna have to tell everypony to come to Canterlot in an effort to try and recover the book, because who knows what's going to happen if both dimensions would be altered, or even worse, affected."

 

Rip Tide sighs in sadness, "Yeah... I'll try to tell them, even though both of the ponies are still recovering." Rip Tide leaves Techie's house as Techie slams the door shut in anger from Rip Tide's failed book-guarding as Rip Tide flies back to Ponyville.

Twilight Sparkle's eyes flickered open again. She felt really...really nauseous. "Ugh..." she grumbled as she craned her neck, taking in the unfamilar surroundings. A simple aquamarine-blue room with one large window, a few miscellaneous paintings of flowers, and a cheap ceramic vase were all she saw before her brain's protests forced her head back to the pillow again. "Where am I?" she asked weakly to no one in particular.

 

A face loomed over her, the concerned face of Pinkie Pie. "Oh hi, you're up!" she exclaimed, her mood brightening as she hopped around Twilight. "That's great, we should have a party and everything! I came as soon as I heard you got hurt, and I thought they wouldn't let me in, but they did and I'm so happy, and..." she continued rambling on and on in a way that only Pinkie could as Twilight let out a muffled groan, her ears pressed again the pillow.

 

"So, Pinkie, what happened? Do you know?" Twilight asked, desperate to halt her incessant chatter. "The last thing I remember was reading an odd book about an alternate dimension. Vehicula, or something. I was trying to find any mention of "crossing over", like before, when Dash and AJ had to race...and that's it," she ended lamely, looking up to realize that Pinkie Pie was not paying attention.

 

"And we'll have cake - real cake, not the stuff all over the floor last night, and balloons, and we'll invite everypony, and we'll all be happy! I even thought up a song!"

 

"Oh, no, please don't, Pinkie," Twilight pleaded, sinking under her covers in desperation as the fluffy pink mare began to sing.

Meanwhile in Canterlot, Techie sighs in frustration after hearing the bad news from his own friend, Rip Tide, knowing that Rip Tide was unable to safeguard his book as part of his science project for his upcoming day as he trots around, mumbling to himself about Rip Tide's botched task on reading it and guarding his book of Vehiculia. "Hurm... I should've said no, even though he was my friend..." Techie mumbles to himself.

 

Back with Rip Tide, he arrives back to Ponyville, despite having a guilt-ridden expression on his face, as he figures out a way to let the ponies know on trying to recover Techie's book. Eventually, he encounters Fluttershy's cottage, hoping that Fluttershy's home. Rip Tide lets out a sigh, trying to lighten up his mood as he knocks on the door. "Hello? Anypony there?" Rip Tide waits for Fluttershy to answer the door.

Fluttershy jumped in fright as the various animals in the house began complaining as soon as she stepped into the doorway - mostly about how they hadn't been fed.

 

"Oh, I'm sorry, Mr Parrot," she murmured gently. "And you too, Mr. Squirell...I'll get you all fed up, please just give me a second..." Quickly, to escape the cacophony in the living room, she made a mad dash for the fridge, throwing open the door in a rush and throwing whatever looked edible to the eagerly-awaiting pets. "And here's a carrot for you, Angel..." she added, tossing the orange vegetable over her shoulder. "Oh dear...I need to go shopping soon for more food..."

 

Shutting the door on her now-empty fridge and sidestepping the various animals that were now clustered hungrily around the foodstuffs she had thrown, she made a beeline for the sofa - everything had happened so quickly today. She only had a moment to enjoy her relaxation, however, as another loud knock from the door sent her scurrying in surprise.

 

"W-who is it?" she asked tentatively, peeking through the window as she unlocked the door.

"It's me, Rip Tide, or 'shadow figure', even though I'm not really the 'shadow figure." Rip Tide replies, trying to keep his positive mood. "And I was gonna tell you something that's Cnaterlot and all, but..." Rip Tide pauses for a moment. "I assume you need some help?" he politely asks.

"Oh...n-no, I'm fine," Fluttershy muttered quietly. "I was just...so busy that I haven't had the time to feed the animals, but that's taken care of now...thanks for asking, though," she added quickly, not wanting to seem rude. "Um...if you want to though, I suppose you could help me straighten out the library in Twilight's absence...it would make a nice welcome-back present...that is, if you want to..." she added quietly.

Rip Tide nodded. "All right. I'll do that. By the way, whenever you can, let this... Twilight know and tell her to head on over to Canterlot, since my friend has this teleporter thing that can take you to an alternate dimension to retrieve my friend's book back that was stolen by the real... 'shadow figure'. Besides, I really don't wanna know how it'll affect Equestria. Wish I could've said the same for Techie." Rip Tide sighs as he is still trying to get over being guilty of not safeguarding his book of Vehiculia. "And yeah, I think I can do that. Thanks, errr..." Rip Tide tries to figure out Fluttershy's name.

Fluttershy blinked. "Oh, no...no, we couldn't possibly go wandering off into other worlds...Princess Celestia needs us here," she said hesitantly. "Couldn't you...find someone else to go with you?"

 

 

Twilight was now in an extremely irritable mood as she watched Pinkie Pie dance around her hospital bed, and tried to stifle a groan as she shut her eyes tightly, trying (and failing) to fall asleep.

"Eh, its fine. I don't think Techie wants me to go 'cause... eh, you don't wanna know, except that I let him down. Thanks anyway, though." Rip Tide flies off to Twilight's library to sort out her books that were made a mess from the incident from earlier, albeit not being able to know Fluttershy's name.

"Ya still napping?" Applejack asked disbelievingly to the blue pegasus tucked comfortably between two tree branches.

 

One of Rainbow Dash's eyes fluttered open as she glanced down groggily at the orange earth pony glancing up at her. "I...was," she grumbled. "Until you woke me up..."

 

"Well if that don't top it all...sugarcube, ya just got clonked on the head, your friend got hurt, and all ya can do is nap in a tree? C'mon, do some work fer once." Applejack gave the tree trunk a swift, satisfying buck with her hind hooves, causing the whole tree to tremble and the blue pegasi to fall out of it.

 

"Ow! What was that for?" Dash asked angrily, rubbing her head (having just landed on it). "If anything, you made me even more sore."

 

"We're going ta do a bit of charity work sprucin' up the library. Ya saw how bad it was when ya left - we can't have Twilight coming back ta that, or she'll plumb drop dead again."

 

Dash rolled her eyes, but knew she couldn't well very refuse without sounding like a lazy, disloyal friend. Resignedly, she followed the orange mare southwards, back towards the large tree-library in the distance.

Meanwhile, inside Twilight's library that has become a mess, Rip Tide merely whistles from looking at the books completely out of place from the incident. "Wow. And I thought my room was a mess when I stayed at home in Cloudsdale." Rip Tide commented, as he prepares to put the books together in other. "I'm no book reader and all, but... I can't just leave it a mess." Rip Tide puts Twilight's books back in order, one by one, as he carefully sets Twilight's books back in order. Eventually, half of the books were placed back in correct order, but his tiredness and his lack of sleep got the best of him as he had no choice but to call it a night. Not being able to fly back to Cloudsdale due to having low amounts of energy from his lack of sleep, he ends up sleeping on the floor of Twilight Sparkle's library as he had only finished placing half of the books back in correct order.

Applejack gently nudged the door to the library open carefully, and trotted inside, followed by a very unenthusiastic Rainbow Dash.

 

"Lame, bookshelving," Dash grumbled. "A unicorn could make everything fly into order faster than I can Sonic Rainboom."

 

"Well, we got no idea where the hay Rarity might be," Applejack said disapprovingly. "Ah tried lookin' for her, but she sure ain't in her lil' beauty shop. So it's up ta us..." she trailed off, looking around her.

 

"Awesome! Someone already did all the work for us," cheered Dash happily, instantly brightning. "Look, let's just leave them to it, okay?"

 

Applejack frowned. "There's still a lot to do, Dash. You can start organizing that pile over there, and ah'll start lugging up these here encyclopedias."

Meanwhile, back in Canterlot, Techie felt regretful after being harsh on Rip Tide as he sits onto the ground. "I guess I was a bit harsh on my friend. At least he'll learn his lesson on keeping my book safe next time, or have somepony else safeguard it for him." Techie sighs, as he wonders what is Rip Tide up to this time in Ponyville as he slowly trots around inside his home at Canterlot.

"There we go," Applejack said approvingly as she glanced around the now-clean library. "Ah think we're all done here."

 

"Gee, really," asked Rainbow Dash sarcastically, kicking an odd-looking lump under the desk and frowning. "Hey, look, there's a pony curled underneath the desk."

 

Applejack looked disapprovingly at the sleeping pegasi. "Coulda sworn ah know him from somewhere. Oh well." She glanced at Dash. "Drag him outside, ya reckon?"

 

"Yeah, sure," said Dash, grabbing one of the pegasi's hooves and pulling him from under the desk with a groan.

Being such a heavy sleeper, after organizing half of the books before his lack of sleep got the best of him, Rainbow Dash dragged him from under the desk, revealing to be no more than Rip Tide himself, who hardly notices both Rainbow Dash and Applejack due to his extreme tiredness from his hard work that was requested by Fluttershy, as the male pegasi snores onto the ground, despite being dragged from underneath the library desk

Rainbow Dash managed to drag Rip Tide out of the library, and left him snoring outside on the ground as Applejack trotted outside after them, turning back to make sure the door was locked tightly. "Doing alright?" she commented to no one in particular, bending down to take a look at the sleeping pony.

 

"I'm fine, thanks!" came an unexpected voice behind her, and both she and Dash jumped, startled. Twilight was standing a few meters behind them, smiling. "I just got out of the clinic - good thing, too, because Pinkie Pie was taking the opportunity to practice one of her, um...songs."

 

"Oh, Twi!" said Dash eagerly, zooming to her side in a flash. "You're alright then? Awesome! We cleaned up the library after you, too!"

 

"Oh, how thoughtful," Twilight said, looking rather surprised but also pleased, as she bent down to take a look at Rip Tide. "Who's this?"

(OOC: Great. I almost missed the RP because of the lengthy power outage. My sincerest apologies, Aureitas)

 

After being dragged outside, Rip Tide hardly even flinched, let alone notice Twilight's presence, as he doesn't notice the three ponies, being a heavy sleeper and all. However, he leaves out a chuckle in his sleep, "Vehiculia... myth.", the male pegasi commented in his sleep before snoring.

Twilight shrugged as she looked over at the pony. "We can't just leave him here," she said, sounding unsure.

 

"We can't?" asked Dash, showing no signs of irritation. "Let's just leave him snoring away on the floor."

 

"Aw, c'mon Dash," said Applejack disapprovingly. "That ain't no way ta treat a stranger. Ah'll carry him ta Ponyville, and maybe we can find out where he belongs." With great difficulty, she managed to hoist Rip Tide on her back, staggering slightly under the weight. Dash frowned, but her desire to help her friend overpowered her reluctance due to exhaustion, and she soon found herself helping to carry Rip Tide's weight as Twilight led the way into Ponyville.

As Rip Tide remains heavily asleep, not being able to notice he was being carried by Applejack and Rainbow Dash, he begins to have an unusual dream within his mind, in which takes place in an alternate dimension of Equestria, known as Vehiculia, who thought it was no more than an urban legend;

 

"Whoa, where am I? Did Equestria became futuristic or what? Unless..." Rip Tide's expression becomes surprised.

 

"I'm in Vehiculia?! No way! I thought It'd be a myth! It's... it's real!" Rip Tide then flies around this particular alternate dimension, encountering what it appears to look like Ponyville, only with modernized buildings instead of rural buildings and asphalt roads instead of grassy fields.

 

He swoops down and encounters what appears to be vehicles instead of ponies. "Did those ponies have extreme makeovers to themselves, or what? They look like robots with metal wheels instead of hooves and mane and such.. weird." As he continues to trot around the sidewalks while seeing vehicles driving next to each other, talking with their voices that are closely identical from ponies, especially their cutie marks.

 

"Whoa... weird..." As he continues to explore, he encounters a 'shadow figure' he saw earlier as the cars stop to see the shadow out of curiosity. Rip Tide becomes surprised, knowing that it's the same figure from Twilight's library, as he flies off, out of panic.

 

"Oh great! It's that same thing from that library earlier! I gotta get on out of here ASAP and find a way to wake myself up!" he tries to find a way to wake himself up.

 

Back in Ponyville, as the two ponies take him somewhere for him to rest, One of Rip Tide's front hoof lets off a sudden twitch.
