writing Shadow's Truth

Lord Pretty Pie

This is a poem I wrote last night, because I was having difficulty sleeping. It's a lot darker than the stuff I normally write, but I'd like to hear what you all think.

Shadow's Truth.

Sleep deep, shadows creep,

They whisper in your ear.

You listen close, to the ghosts,

and this is what you hear:

"All your Life is full of lies,

We have come to open Eyes,

With our truth, your world dies.

And a new one does appear."

Many secrets they reveal,

Life's haze begins to clear,

The one full truth is drawing near.

Alas, the sun! Morning's come! The shadows disappear.

As morning peaks, you want to weep,

But you shed a single tear.

With what you know, your spirit goes,

Taking all that you hold dear.

I felt all icky and goth writing it, but I do think it came out pretty well. What do you think? While you answer that, I'll go write something about sunshine and laughter to get back out of the darkness.

"Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being 'grown up', to admire the 'grown up' because it is 'grown up', to blush at the suspicion of being childish; These are the marks of childhood and adolescence. When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be 'Very Grown Up'."~ C.S. Lewis
