When applejack was telling Twilight to trust her and let go, why didnt she just TELL her rainbow dash and Fluttershy would catch her? She didnt have to say "let, go. trust me, youll be safe" She could of said "Let go! Fluttershy and Rainbowdash will catch you!" Also, they barely caught her! So, the fact that they barely caught her means they could of not caught her which means it wasnt 100 % that they WOULD catch her which means if they DIDNT catch her AJ would of been lieing. Get it? like, its pretty obvious they did it just to make her sound honest. Also, couldnt RD and FS come and hold on to her first? And then she experienced a good feeling inside her because she told the truth. And then she decided to stick with that. I can just imagine Fluttershy and Dash looking around like “OMG, where's Twilight, do we have to help her?!”, and then spending all that time with their mouths agape at the fact that Twilight was about to fall off a cliff. At the end when Twilight monologued to Nightmare Moon, she went on to point out the five situations in which her friends' elements shown through. If Applejack were to have been like 'let go, Rainbow and Fluttershy will catch you, see?' that wouldn't demonstrate her element nearly as well, because there's no trust involved like there is when she just says to let go. She is so honest, you can trust her even with your life. That's the connection, and that's why they did it that way. It also really wasn't an accurate demonstration of honesty on Applejack's part, but more the ability to trust other ponies on Twilight's part.
