You go into your profile and hover over the area that has a picture of a blank pony. the word "Change" should appear in the top left corner, click that and then you can change your avatar. 150X150px and under 100kb are the limits. You'll gain the ability to use sigs and avatars in your profile options, yes. But counts in this intro forum don't count towards your post count, and they don't in roleplays or the Cloudsdale Colosseum section, either.
