So, this is a super quick HTML5 Canvas Javascript experiment I made back when that stuff was still "the big thing". I just re-found it today, so I decided why not post it :)

Tell me what you all think! :D

Oh, and forgot to mention, it works best in Chrome.

It is a great stress reliever and is perfect with music. I really enjoy this. It is a bit laggy, but that is most likely just my computer.

This is very interesting. The code seems pretty solid although it does lag a bit. I can't imagine a real world application for it, but that is ok because it was just a coding experiment. Nicely done.

Hmm... That's interesting that you get lag. Can you tell me what browser (including the version) that you are using? Thanks for the feedback :)

im going to have fun with this for hours! THANKYOU!!!

:D I promise you, it doesn't have hours worth of stuff in it, but if you can manage to do so, I'll be thoroughly impressed with your patience ;)

If you could also give me information about your system/browser, that would be pretty cool. I've only tested this under Linux with Chrome. Also, thank you for taking a look! Though judging by what you said, you've looked at the source. I'm embarrassed, I'm sure it's very ugly

I'm his friend I should get credit too

Very good!! impressive, let see if one of these days I'll start learning html5.

BTW, I didn't experienced any kind of lag, everything flows beautifully

Oh wait, I didn't give you any credit? My mistake! :P

HTML5 is pretty cool. Since you already have a solid grasp on PHP and Javascript though, everything new in HTML5 and CSS3 should be a breeze to pick up :D

Also, if you look at the source files, there really isn't much to this app, and you'll probably recognize almost everything that I do from pre-HTML5.

I use Firefox, but I believe that it may be my laptop. It is quite laggy with even everyday tasks.

I actually used it once again and I had no lag up until I started using line scaling and going all across the screen. ;)

Ahh, alright. When I first wrote this, I remember it basically not working at all in Firefox. It was very very laggy, and it didn't render completely correctly. As far as I can tell, Gecko has been a little bit behind for HTML5 Canvas, but maybe there are just some tricks that I am not aware of to make it work better.

I was a bit surprised to hear you mention that it actually worked with only a limited amount of lag under Firefox. I just tried it now on my machine under Firefox and I was surprised to see how much the situation improved. That said, I wrote it targeting Chrome, and it seems the experience is still the smoothest under that browser.

I initial tested it on an older PC which explains the lag. It has like 2GB of RAM lol and probably a virus or two. I then tested it on my mac and my better pc and there was no lag.

Mac 8GB RAM, OSX Lion, 2.0 GHZ core i7

tested on chrome, firefox, opera and safari

PC 6GB, Windows 7, 3.2 GHZ core i7

tested on chrome, firefox, opera, safari and IE

PC 2GB, Windows XP, 2.0 GHZ core i5 (little lag)

tested on chrome, firefox, opera, safari and IE

All the browsers are as up to date as I could make them.

Don't worry about messy code especially if your just experimenting because you always learn a way you wish you could have organized/written your code by the end of the project xD

Thanks! I'm glad to hear that! :D

That was pretty cool, worked fine in Safari too

Good to hear :) I had never tested it in Safari.

Ah, alright, thanks for the tests :) What's interesting is that apparently I wrote a little over a year ago (just judging by the age of the files), so I'm surprised that the situation with browsers has improved this much in just a year. I think, back then, it wouldn't run at all in IE, and had terrible rendering problems in Firefox, along with a lot of lag.
