I'v noticed that people say Octavia plays the cello, but the way she holds it is completely wrong for a cello. The way she holds it is actually how you hold a bass! So, which is it? Based on my research (which I did right now), it seems as she is playing a bass. But you can also play a cello while standing up. So... I will now show you the cello and bass playing positions: Compare them to Octavia's playing position: Please note that I don't want to ruin anyone's thought of Octavia playing the cello. SHE HAS HOOFS! How else would you expect a pony to play it. Maybe it was most comfortable for her that way. Well, other than that, I believe she is actually both, or more or less a player of four different types. She is most likely a violinist. Why you ask? Well, in the Lunar Eclipsed episode we see her in costume playing a violin. And in the first video of her, the Gala, she is playing what we can assume is a Cello (or a bass) The violin family consists of Cello, Bass, Violin and Viola. So it makes more sense to think she plays all four. Anyone else agree to this?
