Nightfall was broken from his peacefulness. The soul clone stopped where he was and seemed a bit confused.

Nightfall turned back to Rarity.

"Hm? Ah, yes. I believe the plan is to get the rest of the Elements of Harmony first..."

Nightfall looked down. He hadn't thought anything about the uniforms until now.

They were simple and functional, but very well done. Sweetie Belle spoke up, garbled at first but then more normal. "I did them myself, Rarity! You really like them?" In a second, she couldn't help herself and hugged her sister. "I just missed you so much and I love you and..."

Rarity started to hug her sister back. The other recruits were recovering, too.

Wits turned to Nightfall. "I think we may be under attack."

"We, or... Or the base."

Nightfall started staring into space. He soon blinked and looked back at Wits.

"Get the portal ready. I'm going to check in with my soul clone and see what can be done."

Nightfall stepped two steps from the group, and closed his eyes again.

The soul clone recovered. Nightfall remembered... The tea with Bass... Blade in the pool... He gulped the tea down.

"Bass, go get Blade from the pool and take her to her and my bedroom. Tell her not to worry, and that I sent you to protect her. Wits says this place is under attack, and I need to get out there. Do you understand?"

The soul clone stood up and was nearly at the door by now.

Wits nodded and began to prepare the spells that would activate the portal.

"We have plans for this. And I've got an ace up my... sleeve?" He said as his horn began to glow. "But we can't stop them from entering the portal itself. We'll have to fight them from the inside."

Nightfall broke for a second.

"Is there a problem with that? If not, hurry up! You waste too much time with words..."

Nightfall lowered his head again and closed his eyes. He knew that if he failed this time, it would be the last time. Either exile or death would follow. Magically, his pike was lifted up and brought swiftly to him. His exotic wings opened up a bit slowly, and he turned and faced the group. He opened his eyes, only to reveal that they were fully white and glowing.

"I'm ready."

The soul clone burst out of the door. He found himself admits a bunch of soldiers, blasting everything they saw. He bucked a couple in the back of the head. He opened his wings and flew up, and got a good view of the damage. If he could just hold them off until the really Nightfall came and Wits and Rarity...

Vinyl turned around quickly. She had been startled by Iron Bass. When he said that they were under attack, she asked, "Under attack? By who?!" Vinyl thought that this interdimentional bubble was a safe haven, free from any attacks. She followed Iron as fast as she could, her towel dragging behind her.

The Paladins were making a proper mess of the place, buildings beginning to catch on fire and nearly all foilage was burned to a crisp. While a counter-attack was expected, perhaps it would have been wiser to wipe everything out with magic before proceeding. Back at the torn porrtal, Steeleye was watching the purging progress with feigned intrest. In his opinion, these ponies were only a minor nuisance, but he attended all of their deaths with determination. At his command, the wizards began to tear the stream of reality surrounding the bubble into shreds. Forming a cabal of sorcery, the magic at their command began to slice through the sheilds keeping the restless tides of chaos at bay. In several places the fabric of space and time failed all-together, and a gush of vile darkness began to wash in through the wounds. Most life would be corrupted by such an infectious substance, which was rapidly beginning to take form. A collasal arm with claws of ebony punched through the largest opening, the ground quaking beneath its touch.

The paladins were beginning to draw back, forming a ring around the wizards and Steeleye. Even as they fled, another arm broke through the barriers like it was only paper, clamping its talons around a slower soldier. With a shriek, the pony was pulled into the darkness, and consumed. With the breaking of reality, an orderly withdraw of the Solar Empire forces began through the portal. Steeleye watched over it all, his own personal magic sustaining the sanity of the wizards. A great roar reverberated through the air, and the chaos spawn's head broke into the bubble. Its very existence was an affront to all that was good, but Steeleye directed its gaze at the treasonous forces. It screeched and began to pull more of itself inside, the air around it crying with pain.

Soon only those Empirials that had died and those unlucky enough to be caught by the nightmare remained. Steeleye himself stood at the portal entrance, still surveying the crumbling magic around him. Stepping forward, he snapped the portal closed with a glance, and advanced into the darkness. Indeed, he had a convienent failsafe in case he was overcome, but he had a duty to perform. Adressing any that would hear him above the wails of the damned, he chuckled. "You foolish ponies, thinking that you had any right to even think against my Princess. I tell you this, her light is no longer for those wretched beings such as you. Pray to whatever false-deity you believe in, for not even the darkness is worthy of your presence." Quite of its own free will, the nightmare hissed at him, but its attention was turned towards the possibility of consuming the new life that rested in Vinyl. It sought her, attempting to catch or crush her if it could.

But even as the worldlet crumbled around them, the soldiers fought back in a perfect unison. As they did so, their very effort strengthened the world and everything in. As they struck, the buildings were extinguished and restored. The smoke cleared in the air. As a result, a very war occured in the air again. Their paladins were strong, but the Front had the skill to win. They weaved, and ducked, and dodged. There were only half the numbers, but each of them was like ten ponies, unable to be pinned, stopped, or outnumbered at any numbered. Cadance, Applejack, and every other commander was thinking and manuevering, and they quickly thwarted any move. The paladins were strong, but guerilla warfare was far outside their realm of skill.

Then a shout, empowered by magic.

"I AM WITS END." It said. "YOU ARE IN MY WORLD." For a second, terrible silence. "AND YOU WILL DIE."

---------------

Sunburn followed the commanding officer, fighting with skill and killing just about anypony who got too close. Finally, at hearing Wits' voice, he turned to the officer.

"I need three paladins. And make sure they're quick. I'm going to end this silly battle."

The soul clone descended from the air, firing a spell every now and then. He landed and began his search, which didn't take too long, for Candance.

"Candance! How much longer do you think until Wits comes back?"

He had to shout in order to hear over the noise.

"I do not know!" was the answer. "But he should know that someone is here, so it should be very shortly!" As she spoke, she heightened her magic, increasing the bonds and synergy between the soldiers and thus strengthen the worldlet.

Then the message sounded, declaring Wits' return. Cadance smiled wide. "In the name of Equestria, attack!"

The soul clone at once, as he heard Candance's order, kept up and charged at the enemy forces. All he had to do was not die, which might be a bit harder than he thought.

"So, Wits is back? Where's his portal? Where's the true me? Did they succeed? ... Damn it, focus on the battle!"

There was in fact only two enemies to face by the point of major response. This being Steeleye himself and the Daemon creature intent on consuming anything and everything it could get close to. Its eyes gleamed with the exact opposite of light, darkness that had a life of its own. Even as the worldlet began to heal, more of the darkness poured in, like tightening the nozzle on a hose, where the substance only spread further and faster with the pressure behind it building. More daemon creatures began to form, though lesser in scale than their massive draconian counter-part, they were still larger than most stallions. In a wave of malformed bodies and scything claws, they descended upon the living creatures. Steeleye was not excluded, and took a dozen minor wounds from glancing blows. Finally, we he had tired of watching, he uttered a short spell.

"Fifty-seven minus thirty-two in order to find to the radius (twenty-five) and diameter (Round Fifty), henceforth finding the circumfrince completing the pre-determined boundaries. Twenty-five cubed times the quantity of four-thirds and mathematical pie equalling the total volume of before-mentioned sphere, concluding that the whole of the sphere is not a counting number/interger and cannot be written as a fraction. Mathematics knows no chaos, and as there is no determinite value for the area inside this sphere, it is subject to chaos. So forth, this realm is now re-claimed by chaos as its own dominion, unless bound by rules, which it knows not as laid down by the laws of truth."

While it may not have seemed short to those surrounding, it was in fact quite a bit summarized from its original form, and some of the base elements of the spell were lacking in specifics. Some ponies more literate than most would have appreciated the lack of wording in the spell itself, but it was ultimately understandable considering that the end goal was in fact to allow chaos entry. So, in a manner it did, and the monsters became stronger, while at the same time remaining adverse enough that they put more effort into trying to kill something that was a threat to them. Of course this simply could have been an excess of bloodlust not uncommon in daemons. This being beside the fact that they had no orderly structure, rules, or boundaries. Some of the daemons were bound by the spell and disappeared, despite the fact that they were actually being permitted to stay.

To summarize, it was a mortal thinking it could tell an immortal what it could or couldn't do. The chaos itself could have cared less about math, and could easily push by the boundaries or be affected by them in any possible way. Perhaps a better description would be that chaos had feelings like everythinng else, despite the fact that they remained completely unpatterened in occurance or intensity. There had even been times in the past where chaos had gone to the future as we percieve it and had been defeated by order. Of course, it was chaos so it knew no way to be defeated and simply cropped up in another form, mortals thinking they design organization.

At the base of everything real, there was math. One plus one will always equal two, no matter how you try to twist it. On the other hand, the chaos was not real, and made most anything it did or didn't touch like itself or the exact opposite, though it tended to just do whatever most of the time. It had tried making everything orderly on occasion, but found almost every time it disagreed with its stomache, or whatever you call the mechanism that made more chaos. So when mortals thought they had created math, it was in fact chaos in disguise. Steeleye knew this very well, and similarly ignored the previous paragraphs with all the stubborness a mortal could muster.

That is to say that he was actually still breathing after being swallowed by one of the larger daemons, and fought his way out. Looking to the life aura's of those ponies still around him, he sighted an objective. The daemon at the moment was attempting to smash the house where the pregnant female was in order to get to her, though why it simply didn't enter by the windows was not apparent. Charging the magic in his horn, he sent out a pre-defined spell, and attempted to teleport not only his person but her's and the unborn child's away from the still combatted bubble to a destination set down in case he should need it. The daemon didn't appreciate this, but tried to reach in and grab her before he could do so.

Nightfall, the true one, burst through the portal as Wits and the others arrived. Immediately, he saw the daemon breaking into the house.

"Blade!"

He dashed over, just as some form of spell was shot out beside him. This race, little did Nightfall know it, would determine whether he was teleported with Blade and an unknown Solar Empire pony, at least unknown too much to him. He reached the house and burst into a window, reaching out and touching one of Blade's hooves as the spell hit home. Nightfall's vision was blurred, and he opened his eyes. He didn't recognize too much around him, except that he was with Blade and their filly. When he did turn around, there was the Solar Empire pony.

Chaos reigns everywhere you look, but for every ounce of effectiveness that chaos can render, harmony in the same measure makes a pound of power. And despite demons clamoring in, the soldiers stuck together, striking as one and trying to fend them off.

Wits walked down the main passage of the world, and his horn shone greatly. As demons charged at him, his soldiers defended him, and he healed the world. But, upon seeing the General teleport away, his focus shifted, and he began tracing the deep magic that was invovled, interpreting it and look for a destination.

"Nightfall," he shouted. "Give this son of a gun a piece of my mind." And with that, he shot him off towards the location he had determined.

Vinyl just stood there, gripped in terror. Her world was collapsing before her very eyes, demoic creatures were flying about, everything was burning, reality was slipping away, and she didn't know what to do. Nightfall had teleported the both of them, though they didn't seem to leave the worldlet. When she looked around again, she saw an imperial pony. Why would Nightfall transport them here?

Nightfall looked around, and saw Blade, completely shocked and possible scared by this development.

"Listen, Blade... wherever we are, just remember: I didn't send us. I don't know where this is either, and in order to telelport, you must have a predetermined location, remember?"

He turned towards the Imperial pony.

"Stand down, soldier! What are we here for?"
