Flicker Sweet 3,391 August 4, 2012 Share August 4, 2012 I often find myself not having anything to say in response to someone's status but I still wanna show them that I agree with them, find what they said humorous, etc. So, how 'bout it? Could we please get bro-hoof capablities for status updates and comments? :3 Or am I alone on this one?
Juggler 345 August 4, 2012 Share August 4, 2012 Yes that would be wonderful. I also find myself quite a lot in situations where I don't know what to say. And a simple one word answer can sometimes feel quite unnecessary. A simple brohoof would seem more appropriate. Strife 455 August 4, 2012 Share August 4, 2012 So people can farm brohoofs by spamming nonsensical updates? No thanks! Anyways, the whole brohoof system was originally supposed to be for people to denote quality posts that positively contribute to a discussion, regardless if the person likes it or not. Instead, it has been deformed and manipulated to show if you like it .. regardless if te post was on topic, of good quality, or contributed to the discussion. For example, simply posting a picture or some stupid clique comment often gave people a ton of brohoofs, but well written and thought out posts that helped further a discussion remained ignored.
Chigens and Kay 3,832 August 4, 2012 Share August 4, 2012 IIRC, this was discussed at some point in the past but I'm too lazy to look. I disagree with this proposal anyway. My signature broke

Strife 455 August 4, 2012 Share August 4, 2012 But what if the brohoofs in the status updates didn't affect the "brohoof-meter" just like the posts in the forum games? Best to lessen confusion on newer members by limited mechanics of the forum that are excluded from other parts of the forum. In other words, don't over complicate the system. Furthermore, that would still taint the whole original purpose to begin with. Status updates are not supposed to be a large part o the forums ... making posts and holding conversations is the main point. Also, these are forums. Having a conversation is paramount ... giving people a reason to simply click a simple "Brohoof" button and then not throw in their perspective inhibits the whole purpose of a forum. Yes, a brohoof is a nice way of showing your support (which is nice), we don't want it to discourage people from posting ... that is toxic for the community.
Titan Rising 2,156 August 4, 2012 Share August 4, 2012 seriously lol? Putting in brohoofs in the status update is too confusing for people?? I thought we had supposedly evolved passed the neanderthal stage And it's funny this whole "we don't want to discourage people from posting ... that is toxic for the community" attitude you suddenly have when not too long ago you were advocating the belief that a 100 character limit isn't high enough

MVC NVMXD JVRXD 2,406 August 4, 2012 Share August 4, 2012 Brohoofs are supposed to be for posts. Stuff that is (well, supposed to be) written to the best of one's abilities, and full of things that spark serious conversation/debate. Status updates are simply what the name implies. Short updates on one's status. In my opinion, anyway. I HAD TO FALL TO LOSE IT ALL BUT IN THE END IT DOESN'T EVEN MATTER /WRISTS On 4/28/2013 at 8:13 PM, gooM said: Djenty...man you are crazy, but an awesome sort of crazy
Starshine 16,333 August 4, 2012 Share August 4, 2012 If one was to worry about brohoof farming, it's way too late *look at own profile page, feels conflicted* Brohoofing status updates ultimately does nothing but encourages some to spam their status updates instead of preserving those updates for something that's actually important. So that's a no imho Putting in brohoofs in the status update is too confusing for people?? Able to be brohoofed in status updates while not increasing the brohoof counter is damn confusing if there's no clear announcement, mind you
Strife 455 August 4, 2012 Share August 4, 2012 (edited) seriously lol? Putting in brohoofs in the status update is too confusing for people?? I thought we had supposedly evolved passed the neanderthal stage When things work one way, then in some rare occasion works a different without notice, yeah it can confuse people. We already have enough people confused on simple things like avatars and signatures ... and that information is posted just about everywhere. Nah 3,182 August 4, 2012 Share August 4, 2012 That would be great, but I don't think that IP.Board is capable of that feature, however, I completely agree.
Strife 455 August 4, 2012 Share August 4, 2012 I don't know where you got that idea. I didn't even know Cloudsdale brohoofs didn't add to your count until this thread. The difference is that I don't freak out or have trouble with learning simple concepts that don't even really matter This is exactly part of my point. You've been using these forums for quite some time and apparently you didn't even understand that. What about new members, hmm? It really is a simple matter of pro/con. The feature would cause more problems and yet not offer anything substantial to the forums.
Twiliscael 3,960 August 4, 2012 Share August 4, 2012 If this was implemented stuff like this would happen: Who is best pony? Brohoof for Fluttershy. Comment for Applejack. Ignore for Snips and Snails :3 We get enough of this on Facebook and people are just annoying. I tend to take the high road, get stoned, and fly low . . . Sky 746 August 4, 2012 Share August 4, 2012 Thats a good idea but could have many negative factors like those annoying Facebook statues about bro-hoof for bro-hoof though that problem could easily be taken away if its against the rules for a status like that? Shiki 5,855 August 4, 2012 Share August 4, 2012 (I love all the soft deletes. It's uncommon to see mods that do their jobs. ) I don't really see why this would be implemented. It would turn into the "brohoof mah status if u h8 cancur!!!!11!!1!one!!1" nonsense. Sure, we could set rules down for stuff like this, but then mods would have more work to do, which would mean less active attention to threads, as well. I haven't even put down a status change yet, because the whole idea of the status change is pretty pointless, in my opinion, to begin with. 2 You'll be entranced by me ♥
NavelColt 22,880 August 4, 2012 Share August 4, 2012 I think it'd be a nice idea, to have the ability to agree with someone's status and replies to them. Could perhaps turn off the counter though, so that unlike forum brohoofs, they don't add to your overall amount, and only serve as a positive way to show your recognition of agreeing with someone :3

I agree, your post is a great example of this. Then again, you can get brohoof's in General Silliness, and that's imo completely pointless.
